I was looking on their web site earlier and was puzzled by the fact that cool white strips were all out of stock... why is that? surely if so popular they should have adequate stock for a company of their size!

Typical - no large bayonet type. Shame as I'd be all over it. Heated nonetheless.

there are converters available like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/SOCKET-CONVERTER-401-090-BAYONET-B22-E27/dp/B001DNCAOC

First time I've used LED Hut. Whenever I tried to buy some of the Clearance bulbs it came back with "Please specify option(s)" but there's nowhere to specify options for the bulbs. Waste of time. Won't bother shopping there again.
Don't see where "specify option(s)" is, I have ordered without issues, basically ignore specify options

It was on some other clearance B22 BC bulbs.

bought some in home bargains for £1.89 if you have one near by.
I have individual transformers for each bulb but unfortunately they are the AC type ...so when I fitted LED bulbs they suffered "flickering"....you need DC type transformers for them to work properly.
It was cheaper for me to remove the offending transformers and replace with GU10 connectors ..fortunately the bulb supplier agreed to exchange the MR16 bulbs for the GU10 type.
like you I have AC type of transformer per bulb. Can I just simply remove transformer and connect up a GU10 bulb holder or is there more to it?
Well that's what I did and they are in the bathroom so I cannot appreciate why low wattage is a safety issue....my other small bathroom has 3 x GU10s fitted not MR16s...I just fail to understand why my 2007 build is so inconsistent...it has GU10s in the kitchen and MR16s on the landing.....the landing lights are never on for more than a minute or so or I'd change them to LED GU10sI

Depends where it is, as some areas of the house such as the bathroom might require lower voltage for safety reasons.

I just have the MR16 bulbs in the kitchen
Why not just ditch the transformer, replace with GU10 flyleads and go with mains GU10s?

Wouldn't bother. Nothing but problems with the quality from this company. LEDs are supposed to last years, often upwards of 50,000 hours. Had faults, they've sent replacements and they have failed. Had tungsten filament lamps last longer. I personally source lamps from elsewhere these days.

Have you left any reviews on their website? The reviews I've seen on this product and the B22 one are all pretty glowing...

I migrated to LED lights and will offer my humble advice.

Whatever wattage you think you need add another 10 watts on to that amount to avoid disappointment. LED's don't have the same depth as current halogen lights but do offer massive energy savings.

The light given out appears slightly blue and not as bright or fulfilling as halogen lights so chose wisely.

Hope the above helps!
Agree, read small print.

Ive been living in china for awhile and you can buy these for around £120-£150. so would be cheaper just to import it yourself.
my experience with buying from china (i used to import electrical goods to sell) is DO NOT DO IT! its not worth the hassle, import taxes, different plugs etc, and then the after sales when you find out it doesn't live up to your expectations. i would therefore encourage everyone i know to buy from the UK from a proper retailer where you can take it back if anything was to go wrong. it may be a little more expensive but at least you know what you're buying

Agreed
These are so expensive does anybody know how to get it cheaper:{

"Please note:
Smart Glider is excluded from existing discount code promotions."
Given this I suspect they will try and decline any cashback on this.

I thought this too, but there is a code specifically for this item "GLIDER" and it would seem strange of them to deny cashback when using a Quidco approved code.
Someone watched too much Casey Neistat from youtube :)

Evidence?

I have too, mainly off of eBay, bought 35 or so bulbs 6 month ago.
All a lot cheaper than these are.

Any particular retailer to use? I've never bought these bulbs before but need some for my kitchen to replace 4x 50W GU10's

Home Bargains, they've got LED GU10 Warm White & Day Light in currently at £2.49, also at £3 or 2 for £5. Same bulb numbers, but different packaging heh.

@yankyg, not us, we thought of it as a figure of speech, not an insult :D

..upon reading back though i'm offended at my own keyboard speed spelling ineptitude.

Oh yeah, n'other thing cfl's don't like cold weather (there are a few drop in cfl security lights on motion sensors about, making the pitch up & useable time even worse sadly, that & the starters on cfls are usually junk, grab a cheap amazon 10w led & strip it down, they are simplicity themselves, just don't forget your paste for the heat transfer & seating, our 9 year old daughter is stripping her multi coloured one down to put it back together again from scratch as a "learning punishment" for misdemeanours yesterday. (first time fun with a gas soldering iron for her, ...solder puddles a-go-go).
Good points there MR GUS.
I totally agree, and hope I've not offended anyone.
Yankyg, the difference between an energy saver (typically a cfl) is start up time to maximum brightness ("creeping light gain") whereas the led is an instant on to maximum, & not overly bothered with the repetitin of on/ off cycling (unlike the cfl).

Also note, the led unit is relaceable if you possess a soldering iron, a unit cqan be stripped out & upgraded if you know what you are doing (not hard look for an instructable or similar page).

Something J.Spennewyn didn't write up at the time, is the difference between units, silicone washer seals & the wiring which "she" ..having bought around 10 units now is very au fait with particularly with regard to insisting on opening up the units (lights) down to bare bones in order to seal more effectively & check seal slippage, & very importantly internal wire crush by inept idiots @the multiple factories who turn these out en masse, it happens in her experience in 5/10 units.
a dab of silicone here & there has made for better protected electrics, as the claimed sealing is typically iffy!

if it's not grounded properly moan to amazon or whoever & get a new one sent out!

PIR's are simple to fit, "she" recommends byron based on no typical load quirks that plagued some of the earlier led floodlights.
go to your local electrical wholesaler & ask, they are around £4-6 per pir you wish to wire one up.

I will ask her to amend her review as there are several more of various wattage sitting on the dining room table currently!

NB these aren't single emitter floods they are typically grouped 1 watt led's on a mountset, so a 10W = 10x 1W led.

Another thing she neglected to mention ( too busy) is the possibility of some mains interference, such as when in close proximity (15ft or less in her experience) to the 10W version in the larder causing sometime problems on her roberts DAB radio.

However, by contrast she has no problems with a multi coloured unit set up in her daughters room in close proximity to the xbox & another (pure bug 2) dab radio.

If looking for a multi-coloured unit, (nice colourwash) be aware the mix of RGB makes for quite a weak whiteish light, & she also says don't buy one with a trailing colour changing remote antennae, ONLY buy the one with the antennae behind the glass (less problematic & range is ok for the remote generally), a trailing antenna which easily snags (or may get cut, eaten by pets etc, the encased antenna doesn't affect the throw of light noticabley.
Does anyone know if this unit is actually any different to the amazon one?
this gives same brightness as equvalent energy saving bulbs, so a waste of money.
LED is only good if you need compact size, or less heat, or will get more lumens per watt, which this one doesn't.
It's the same one as the one on Amazon, and someone has kindly added the dangerous pictures on Amazon, to show what you get.

And if you want a long life bulb, only a fool pays an extra tenner for a non replaceable led fitting, to save on a £2 replacement bulb in five years time,

"LEDMORE" code works and gives 15% off today, and 10% off tomorrow, if anyone is thinking of ordering.
The "mystery15"code, did work with the "buy6 get1 free" offer. It looks like that has expired now. There was also the 10% cashback with Quidco. I got 24 of these and that is my whole house on LED's now.

The way the wife and kids don't seem to understand that lights can also be turned off, as well as on, should save me a few quid over the coming months. Not to mention the halogen GU10's blew quite consistently.
Trying to place an order, applying a discount code seems to be removing the 'buy 6 get 1 free' offer.

I also recommend these - Megaman 11 Watt Dimmerable - from energybulbs.co.uk, got 2 of these in normal bayonette pendants (dimmers were attached to 2 x 3 Way Halogen Spotlights fittings, so replaced fittings as well, much cheaper replacing one bulb than 3 x 2) and they've been working great for over a year

Don't you usually have to change your existing transformer to use these LED bulbs, i.e I have MR15 bulbs at present, I would like to change for MR16 LED bulbs but the added cost of possibly changing my transformers takes the price from £5 per a bulb to £15. Good if you already have the appropriate transformer.

they do say that, but I put LED MR16s in kitchen fitted downlights and didn't change transformers (2 transformers across 8 lights - fairly new house tho) and been fine for over 4 months, doing bathrooms same way next

Actually there is a great light off of this fitting. I just paid over £40 2 days ago then had to pay £21 for a motion sensor mmmm. Then £30 for a spark to fix my wiring lol

ill be buying another two at this price.

But honestly if people are worried about the light output don't be, it's very powerfull a lot better than just lighting up a tree or water feature. Its a good security light.
