About the Game

Set in the zombie apocalypse, Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2) is the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning Left 4 Dead, the #1 co-op game of 2008.

This co-operative action horror FPS takes you and your friends through the cities, swamps and cemeteries of the Deep South, from Savannah to New Orleans across five expansive campaigns.

You'll play as one of four new survivors armed with a wide and devastating array of classic and upgraded weapons. In addition to firearms, you'll also get a chance to take out some aggression on infected with a variety of carnage-creating melee weapons, from chainsaws to axes and even the deadly frying pan.

You'll be putting these weapons to the test against (or playing as in Versus) three horrific and formidable new Special Infected. You'll also encounter five new “uncommon” common infected, including the terrifying Mudmen.

Helping to take L4D's frantic, action-packed gameplay to the next level is AI Director 2.0. This improved Director has the ability to procedurally change the weather you'll fight through and the pathways you'll take, in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match your performance. L4D2 promises a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience every time the game is played, custom-fitted to your style of play.

Next generation co-op action gaming from the makers of Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress and Counter-Strike.
Over 20 new weapons & items headlined by over 10 melee weapons – axe, chainsaw, frying pan, baseball bat – allow you to get up close with the zombies
New survivors. New Story. New dialogue.
Five expansive campaigns for co-operative, Versus and Survival game modes.
An all new multiplayer mode.
Uncommon common infected. Each of the five new campaigns contains at least one new “uncommon common” zombies which are exclusive to that campaign.
AI Director 2.0: Advanced technology dubbed “The AI Director” drove L4D's unique gameplay – customizing enemy population, effects, and music, based upon the players’ performance. L4D 2 features “The AI Director 2.0” which expands the Director’s ability to customize level layout, world objects, weather, and lighting to reflect different times of day.
Stats, rankings, and awards system drives collaborative play

Also 4 pack for £15.30. Not the cheapest ever (that was when steam did a 6 key pack), but still insanely good value for an outstanding game (I have over 270 hours on each L4D). And they're adding the other campaigns from the original soon, too!

That for 4 keys to be able to play with mates? ie buy them copies cheap? If so, I'm so on this!!! Even at full price it would be a bargain for 4 people.

Just posted in your lads night thread... Yes this is for 4 copies. Each person will need their own steam account. You simply buy the 4 pack and then gift the extra copies to your mates steam ID (via steam friends)

Updated OP - by putting price for both packs in title - should help this gain more heat than it deserves - Thanks for your post

Got to say this is one of the most satisfying games you might ever come across. Regularly updated and gets attention from valve, and source engine looks nice and sharp.

I never liked Zombie moves or games, but this game held my attention for well 100 of play time straight, and I still jump back in from time to time.

They set out to make a game that had the replayability of multiplayer games, and the story or drive of a single player, and they hit it right on the head. You can play the core levels again and again and again and never play it the same twice. And Playing co-op is the best thing ever, being rewarded for rescuing a team mate just feels brilliant.

Get it get it get it!

Looking at the Steam trailers.
Anyone else think one of the blokes is Sol Campbell ? X)
Wondered what he's been doing since he couldn't get in the Newcastle side.
Killing Zombies, of course !

Awesome game but I've only played it on the xbox. Is it worth getting for the pc? Other than the graphics being a little better and all the dlc's free what else should I look forward to? I guess voice chat etc. is the same?

Steam is fully resumeable, pause, cancel updates etc, it will just work when you're connection is active, and it verifys all it's files so if anything gets messed up it will correct it.

I'd say the action might be ever so slightly faster, since you can use mouse and Keyboard. You also have access to custom maps from the community ( http://www.l4dmaps.com/ Run by the developers as a place to host, download and rate maps), They also add a weekly Mutation gameplay mode that can be anything from playing the levels solo with nothing but a pistol, to special swarms of enemies like this week it's called 'Hunting Party' all the enemies are hunters which really changes the gameplay.

Thanks for that, looks like I'll give it a go! The weekly mutation is also on the xbox version but the lure of using keyboard & mouse and better graphics make it worth the download.

I don't understand the comment sorry? You don't need to have played L4D1 to get the story of L4D2. There's some nods in there for people who have played it, but they are separate story lines played out at the same time.

This deal is for L4D2, so you don't need to spend anything on 1?

Great game - bought mine for about £3 though when Steam were having a sale about 6 months back, a fiver still great value for an excellent game.

Nah Left4Dead revolves around an event where some sort of virus is turning people into Zombies. In the first game there is a set of four characters, and it's about how they deal with getting away from the military and the infection etc. They start in Pennsylvania and try to progress south.

In Left4Dead 2 you have the same event, but as told from the perspective of four different characters who start off in Savannah. There is a special mission where there's a cross over where the characters from Left 4 Dead 1 will help you, but you loose nothing not knowing their story, it's more like a cameo appearance for anyone who has played the first.

And now you even get the initial mission (Mercy Point) from L4D1 as a part of L4D2 anyway... with the other three L4D 1 missions scheduled to arrive as part of the Cold Stream DLC later this year.

Went in with 4 mates so £3.80 each. Now just got to wait a few hours for it to download....................

Is it any good as a single player?

I'm a sociopath.

Would also be nice if you had put the price in the title...

Why not try the less arrogant approach ?

Hi, anyone got any experience of playing this on an XPS L501 (first Gen Dell i5)? Just wondering how my machine would cope with this. FPS drops to a noticeable level when upping the GFX settings on New Vegas to high. Dropping them so the FPS is ok takes the nice sheen off the game that I am used to with the consoles.

I suppose the question should be; is this game similar to run as New Vegas?!

Yes, the AI really does a good job of playing the 4 players, but you really would get more playing it with people.

Pretty sure that has a Ge-Force 435M or something, so it should run Left 4 Dead really nicely.

Fallout Vegas is built on the same engine as Elder Scrolls:Oblivion, it's a nice enough looking game, but it was never that efficient with it's use of power.

Left4Dead is built using Valve's Source Engine, and it can really pump out the pretty pixels on a pretty broad range of hardware, I think you'll be pleased with the result. I used to play it on a Dell XPS 1530 laptop, and that was an Nvidia 8600M.
