Next generation co-op action gaming from the makers of Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress and Counter-Strike.
AI Director 2.0: Advanced technology dubbed The AI Director" drove L4D's unique gameplay customizing enemy population, effects, and music, based upon the players' performance. L4D 2 features The AI Director 2.0" which expands the Director's ability to customize level layout, world objects, weather, and lighting to reflect different times of day.
New melee weapons axe, chainsaw, frying pan, baseball bat allow you to get up close with the zombies
Four different survivors. New Story. New dialogue.
More game. On day one, L4D 2 features more co-operative campaigns, more campaigns and maps for the Versus game modes than L4D 1, plus support for Survival mode out of the box.
Stats, rankings, and awards system drives collaborative play

Heat.

Same price on Gameplay. People now have a choice to either order on Amazon and get nectar points or Gameplay for quidco (don't know if Topcashback offer cashback for transactions on Gameplay - not a member).

Maybe they're really good and they just want to intentionally cripple themselves.

But yes, 360 pad controls are integrated directly into the options menu.

So if I buy this on Amazon & then want to play it on-line, I have to use STEAM to play it ?

Absolutely, is it not a requirement of all Valve titles? Out of curiousity what do you dislike about Steam, I think it's excellent and have been using since 2004.

I never said I never liked it ?
I do however prefer to buy from shops, as when you buy from Steam the games can't be sold on so you lose out on getting some money back for your older games.

Fair point. I guess I did not take that into consideration as I would never sell any of my Valve games :-D

It depends what you think of multiplayer games - they are based on the same engine but are very different animals.

HL2 is a very good single-player experience, L4D 2 really depends on on-line multiplayer (you can play alongside 'bots but it really isn't the best way to play) - rather than a very long, linear shooter, you have a more free-form experience battling through a limited number of long stages alongside a group of other players (can take about 1/2 an hour to play through one stage completely). The waves of attack tend to vary depending on how well / badly you are doing.

If you think you may get bored of playing the same level several times or don't like to play with a group of people this probably isn't for you.
