Time for some spin and some damage control, yeah? It's not as if the supply costs are 20p either...

Nintendo are scam artists. There is no other reason as to why the prices are so high, when they charge so much for supplying retailers who in turn have to charge even more in order to make a profit.

Really?! Slight overreaction there. oO £48 for a new game for a new console, not out for over a month, which means the price will likely be further reduced. Granted this isn't exactly a "hot" deal, but neither is it a scam.

I'm pretty sure it's just the hardware they can't set RRP for. See it for games all the time.
#13
Wait a few weeks just to be safe price will go down close to launch.

it seems like Amazon has the best price around for this pre-order

The cheapest ripoff is still a ripoff.

mine too, 36 quid is a far more reasonable price, don't quite feel like I'm getting bummed! well apart from the price the console that is.....

Yep, and let's be honest, they all but set it for hardware too, at least the base line under which no one will sell. They're in contact with the retailers, set the margins and know what percentage needs to be made on such items, so they all but officially recommend a price. It's just that after Europe hit them for price fixing they took their ball home and sulked over the term RRP.

Odd... you have said in prior deals that you are buying a Switch and then are attacking those who say anything remotely positve about it in deal threads. Appears you have an agenda.

If people are happy with Switch, then that's their choice. It's nothing to do with you or anyone else if they should buy it. I say this as someone who isn't interested in it too, due to the lack of games upon release and current high accessory costs.

But you do get that game you pay for. Explain how that's a scam.

You can think it's too expensive, that still doesn't make it a scam.

Remember those promises of Switch getting ample third party support?

Somehow the reality isn't quite matching up to Nintendo's fraudulent claims. So yeah... SCAM!

What exactly were you expecting? just because they are partnered doesn't mean that they have anything to show or announce just yet. However off the top of my head I can think of games announced for nearly half the companies listed there...
Atlas - Shin Megami Tensei
Activision - Skylanders
Bethesda - Skyrim
Capcom - Street fighter 2
Grasshopper - No more heroes game
TT games & Warner bros - Lego City undercover
Square Enix - I am Setsuna, Dragon Quest games
Sega - Sonic Mania & Puyo Puyo Tetris
Konami - Bomberman R
EA - Fifa
Frozenbyte - Has Been Heroes
Ubisoft - Rayman & Steep
Namco Bandai - Dragon ball, new tales, Taiko Drum Master
Telltale - Minecraft: story mode
Hamster - Arcade Archives

The bottom two rows are either supported engines or technologies.

How exactly are Nintendo scamming people? If you don't think the games are worth the money don't buy them, if the console isn't worth £280 to you don't buy it. Not happy with the amount of games coming at release just wait a year or two until there are enough games to justify your purchase, it really is that simple.

While generally the Switch pricings are poor (and peripherals are obscene at the moment) Killzone and Knack were nigh on £50 at launch. Dead Rising and Ryse were about that too, weren't they?

Obviously the poor launch lineup is another matter, but I assume Bomberman's crazy price is Konami, as they're publishing.

So anyone who added-on less than £2.01 to preorder this (when it was £49.99) using the £10 off code... oh dear
#28
lol there are 2 delivery methods
Standard (£free) - estimated delivery: 4th March
Expedited (£4.99) - estimated delivery: 3rd March

That's a bad joke considering it's a preorder and most other online stores will dispatch so you receive on or before release for £free
#29
Zelda will be £39.99-£44.99 on release from most stores.

No it won't. Your upper limit is the lowest it'll be on release.

My discount is still showing. My confirmation email was for £44.71 (being sent to France) and the new total for the order on my account is £42.72. They've already sent the bloody pencil to France (and charged £2.20 to post it!) and I'm not even sure if I'm going to keep my preorder of Switch.

I've got an Amazon France preorder for the Switch too, which I'll take assuming the pound doesn't plummet, for 314€ (about £270 as of today) and they're doing an offer for Switch plus Zelda for 360€, which is about £310 all in, so Zelda for £40, roughly, on top of a £270 Switch.

The preorders haven't sold out in France. Still available at Amazon and Fnac, both colours. And Amazon Spain when I last checked.

I'm glad the £10 wasn't lost for folks, this definitely happened for me last year.

I bought a big old pack of toilet roll to add on - something I knew would get used and I would be buying anyway!

I'm talking about people who just added a very low value item to get the total just over £50. If given this new £2 reduction their revised order total is now under £50 (£40 with code) then their £10 discount will no longer be valid

I did. Zelda now showing as £48 with no discount mentioned

Though to be fair, Amazon are usually pretty good with stuff like this so I might email them and see if they'll stick with it.

Mine is still under £50, postage doesn't count. Total is £42.72, which is £48.66 for the items and £4.06 for postage to France, less £10.

Maybe it makes a difference if they've already dispatched part of the order? I asked them to send it in one package, but they've send it in two. Which means I have an expensive pencil if I cancel Zelda, which I'm likely to do!
