that probably applies to all lego sets and the majority of toys posted on here.
Just checked the stock level and there appears to be over 100 sets in stock.

I would suggest buying when the sets are half price or less.
My daughter started building basic lego sets (not Duplo) when she was 4 1/2 yrs. On her 5th Birthday, I gave her the Lego Space Shuttle set 3367 and she built it by herself with minimal help.
lego is rarely more than 30% off, so if it is the case i would buy it and store somewhere, as long as you don't open the box it can only gain value... there is plenty of old unopened sets on ebay that sells much, much higher than their rrp
i would say that 3 years is enough for some simple sets, 4 - 5 years old can build sets like this one, and 5+ can start with lego technics
