I know exactly what you mean hehe. Brought this beginning of last year and it cost me £65... So had to post it while it's this cheap, save some parents a bit of money :-)

Is it worth to buy for 6 years old kid?

Also, is it worth it for a 30 year old "adult" :-p

I loved the Lego games but thought they got a bit samey, is it more of the same or is there enough to set it apart from the film based games? And do you have to buy loads of the extra characters to make it worthwhile?

everyone should get this game its pretty incredible

To sum up this game.

It's just like a normal Lego game (like Lego Marvel etc) in the sense you play through levels, collecting studs, rescuing characters in peril, different characters have different abilities you need to use to solve various puzzles etc.

The difference is there's and added "dimension" to puzzles in the base. It's split in to 3 zones, 2 L shaped ones and one round one. Each lights up a different colour (blue, red & yellow) and in the game you may activate things like portals in those colours that when you pick up your character and place them on the red section they'll warp to the red portal, or the colours may give them different powers (water, fire & electric) depending on the type of puzzle.

Each level is based on one of the licensed properties. So first level is Wizard of Oz, there's Ninjago level, a Dr Who level, Simpsons level and there's a fairly big crossover so the Simpsons level also features Lord Business and his Micro Mangers and fight against the Joker.

You don't need any additional characters to complete the game but you can unlock more things with them, you also don't need to buy the packs as you can hire a hero for 30 seconds to do the task for you with studs in the games. You do need to own the characters to open up the freeplay worlds though.

Overall it's a great game, well worth this price especially as it includes Supergirl who is an all-round awesome character (she's got an in-game Red Lantern costume which gives her some cool abilities like digging).

It is a bit of the same but as all the levels are different franchises it might break up the monotony for you. You don't need to buy any extra characters only if you want to collect more gold bricks. The Level Packs are good though if you can get them for the right price. We have Ghostbusters which is cool playing as Venkman in a ultra condensed version of the original movie. We also have the Sonic Level Pack and it's crazy how much it plays like an actual Sonic game, one level similar to the Underwater level on the Mega Drive and one part of it is just like Sonic Adventure on the DC/GameCube.

Infinity is okay. The button layout is quite different to the Lego games though, so that can be a bit annoying.

The 'levels' that you can buy though only work with certain versions of the games. So whilst all the figures will work in 3.0 the Marvel Levels will only work with the 2.0 software. The Monster's University playset only works with 1.0

My girls (4 and 5) love Disney Infinity, mainly run around an area as different characters. My eldest really wanted Dimensions and I got it for her for Christmas, but they still play Infinity more.

As someone who owns Dimensions I feel like they've short changed us. A lot of the characters have the same abilities or useless vehicles (like Slimer's pathetic slime gun). Add to that the facts that you only need to use 2 buttons at most on your controller when they could've give us far more abilities per character using the majority of the buttons on your controller.

For example, the characters from Jurassic world are abysmally boring as is Unikitty from Lego Movie. They could've done so much more. And this coming from someone who's played tons of games over the the past 20 years.
