A great deal on the soon to be discontinued Lego Grand Emporium. Roughly 20% off, very unusual for the modular series.

noticed the town hall has a £14 discount also.
My son has the Grand Emporium and considering the cost I think it's disappointing compared to the other modulars. Very tempted by the Town Hall just can't find a voucher code. Grr. Can any hot dealers help out?

Unless it's a Pixmania deal. Then it's not a deal. It's a potential consumer nightmare.

Town Hall will probably have a 10% discount weekend from Lego.com in the run up to xmas, plus you'll get VIP points worth about £6.66 and usually a free minifigure or set, so might be worth waiting until then for that.

Cheers good find. Bang goes my cash!!

"soon to be discontinued" - really?

This is a super model, we got it 2 years ago when my son was 12, not only did he love putting it together, but it still stands in his bedroom alongside the vintage fire station, cinema, town hall & pet shop. I know that in odd idle minutes he does play with them - in the manner of playing with a dolls house - of course I would NEVER tell any of his mates that !!

Well worth the money in my opinion - heat added (even tho Pixmnania can muck up deliveries I understand)

This is a 'grab it while you can' at this price.... already out of stock on Lego Store online and yes, it is being retired / discontinued. You only have to look at prices of the fire station, cafe corner & greengrocer to see which way prices will go ! As a side, the Palace Theatre is next to be retired so watch for that one on offer anywhere. Heat added

paul_merton - Grand Emporium was discontinued a month ago in the US and Canada, so expect the UK to be following shortly.

moggie2k2 - Palace Theatre 10232 has only been out for 15 months, surely the Pet Shop 10218 (3 years+ old) and Town Hall 10224 (2 years+ old) are due for retirement before that set?
#12
caterham7 - must be duff info given to me by staff in one of the lego stores last week :(
#13
It wasn't discontinued at all caterham7 it's just out of stock in USA Canada, not sure where your info has come from

1. The staff in the shops have no idea, but it pays to tell people that stuff is rare and being discontinued as people might buy stuff.
2. Why would Lego spend all their time telling staff about their future plans for every single set, no work would get done.

I'm a big Lego fan and there are constant rumours that some guy in the shop told me this or that, usually the information is wrong, but there is no hurt telling people things will be discontinued soon, as evidently they will eventually be

stevemack - info is available at brickset.com

...paid £120 for this set a few months back, but tempted to buy another at this price to either modify or extend my set or for my parents or sister if they want once they've seen my street for my sons.
#17
Now temporarily unavailable (OOS?)
#18
...dithered too long on trying to decide whether I needed the extra set!

So I should spend thousands and clutter entire house with Lego boxes, some of which someday might or might not be worth something in a vague hope of making £50 profit on eBay 10 years from now.

Thanks, I'll pass.

Or you could always exaggerate your point in a needless attempt to sound smarter than everyone else.

If you know just how much money there was to be made in it, you wouldn't be sounding so smug about it.
Not the reason I buy - I buy because I enjoy building it. I can then at a later date sell on for pretty much what a paid for new (often more) to then fund future buys.

my point was meant in terms of 'if you want it this is a good time to buy' rather than wait in the hope prices may reduce or there be a better offer round the corner. The recently retired Fire Station is already hovering around the £200 mark and the Market St and Greengrocer regularly fetch @£500 on eBay, so yes, if you have the funds to buy and put aside for 12 months there may very well be money to make if thats your thing... personally i think 2 emporiums next to each other look even better on a layout

Hush hush, I already have 2 GEs, but there isn't much point in telling oblivious people to buy whole truck of these and drive our prices down soon, is it?

Jesus bloody Christ Lego the rip off merchants!

This set is being retired in December 2015, so you have plenty of time. It's the Pet Shop that's retiring this December. How do I know? My cousin runs the Cardiff Lego store and his wife's sister works in Billund! The Pet Shop will be reduced by 30% during Brick Friday weekend so no rush on that either. A word of warning.... A large batch of Grand Emporiums shipped with parts of the 3rd floor missing so be careful if it's old stock.

Hmmm exactly why I get a 2nd income on the buying and reselling of sort after Lego sets. Keep the re-sale prices higher for those of us 'in the know' - Thanks. :)

As a secondary note, I bought over 1k worth of GEs (10 sets) via BA gate 365 (50% bonus Avois offer) so got about 30k of Avios points from Harrods when they reduced this set down to £109.
