Me too, thought it was a bargain at £5 and still good value at under £7.

The book looks great and has lots of ideas but does not include any bricks or figures and you would need to buy loads of Lego to build anything from it

Yes and no. To me the book is primarily about ideas on techniques, modelling etc., not specific models to be built, so the lack of a specific brick needn't be the end of the world. Inspiration not instruction, basically.
Besides, if you're anything like me then your kids will have '000s of bricks already!
