Cheapest I've ever seen it... and free delivery as a shade over £20! Get it while you can... great for upgrading Technic sets without this supplied, like the 42053 Volvo EW160E which comes with pneumatic components as standard but not electronics.

[This is NOT suitable for the Winter Train - you need 4 particular parts for that which are listed below, sadly that costs more than this but you may be better off buying the passenger train as suggested below and borrowing from that at Christmas time for your display - that set can be had for around £65-£70 if you shop around, whereas the motorised parts alone will set you back around £40]

should show you in the instructions whenever it says you can upgrade with power functions - though I assumed the winter train might use the train motor (which we have from another set anyway) but not sure that's available separately so this would make sense for that; I've got that on the way as well so we shall see! EDIT: confirmed I was right about train motor being required

can anyone confirm if this is the set required for the winter train? Mine should be arriving today but you can bet this offer will be off by the time i get home..

Just found this on Lego: to motorize the engine, purchase items 8879, 8884, 88000, and 88002 - so I DON'T think this is the set for that... as 88002 is the train motor (those are all available via Lego's website but quite a bit more than this set which is for Technic power functions upgrades to some models - sorry!!!).

Those are in the Passenger and Cargo train so if you own them then you can borrow it from there just for Christmas
