Yet another £10 off!

Lenovo B50-30 Laptop

Intel Celeron N2840 2.16GHz (benchmark 1067)
4GB RAM + 500GB HDD
15.6" LED + DVDRW
Webcam + Bluetooth
Windows 8.1 64bit + Bing

£149.98 after cashback (ends 28/02) for 15.6 laptop with DVDRW and free next day delivery.

Originally posted this when I bought it at £20 more.

Re-posted, now valid until 28/02/2015.

When looking for reviews, remember this seems to have the internals of Lenovo G50-30 (N2840/500gb), Amazons No1 selling laptop at £229.

Would this be able to play skyrim reasonably well on lowest settings with maybe a couple of performance enhancing mods?
banned#2
best to look up the exact generation of graphics this cpu is using then Google that and skyrim. I think it should be able to play it on low tbh.
#3
That Amazon link is for the G50-30, not the B50-30.

Whats the difference between them apart from the model number?
#4
From what I can tell the Amazon one isn't on the list for cashback making the Ebuyer one cheaper overall

It **** me off when processors with low power needs are paired with low capacity batteries to save money rather than shove in a normal sized battery for a long duration off power machine.

I bought a laptop from ebuyer in December, with the cashback offer, i've claimed for the cashback now after waiting the 30 days, not heard anything, Googled it and a lot of people never recieved their cashback. Just a heads up
#7
Thanks for the heads up , will not consider it unless good reviews appear now .

I've deleted Amazon link. Both the B50-30 (N2830/320GB) [bad reviews] and the G50-30 (N2840/500GB) [good reviews] are £229.
The B50-30 laptop I've posted here has N2840/500GB, so is it the B50-30 chassis with G50-30 innards? The review posted by ioscorpio is for the N2830/320GB model. The G50-30 (N2840/500GB) is Amazon's No1 selling laptop.
I've ordered one. If it's the N2830 model it'll be going back, but whatever it's still £60 cheaper than Amazon.
I've had 2 cashbacks through ebuyer, no problems. I've also sent back an Acer PC because it was too noisy with no problems and I had opened it up.

Laptop arrived. I can confirm it is N2840/500GB. It looks the same as the G50-30 in Amazon, only difference I can see is that the card reader is on the front not the side.
It's fast to load webpages despite lots of Lenovo software which I probably won't need and will uninstall.
Good silent laptop with DVD Writer for £169.

Costs £10 less now.

This video should answer your question, an Acer laptop, but same CPU/Graphics as the laptop in this deal >

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdomysk69s4

Here's the spec of the model in the video above >http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/model/NX.MRWEK.002

So the answer is Yes it will run Skyrim at low resolution.

Just received my cash back for this laptop. You have to wait up to 30 working days, although mine came through in about 3 weeks
#14
Some reviews saying it's slow...

I bought this laptop last month, I recommend removing all lenovo bloatware otherwise it runs like dog turd. once removed it turns out to be a fairly decent laptop for basic web browsing and word processing etc.
#16
Very cheap, but I'm thinking 60 quid more and I can get something that will run decent image editing software and video editing stuff.

Anyone still have that Amazon Germany link? No OS?

What do you mean removing the bloat ware? Cheers
#20
Don't forget you'll also get a Windows 10 upgrade for free. Not bad.

removing all the bundled lenovo software that is installed at the factory

I too bought this last month and have just applied for my cashback. Fast delivery of laptop and delivered when they said it would be delivered. Not a computer geek but have decided most of the installed software not what I would have chosen so have gradually uninstalled and replaced by things I prefer, or not replaced at all. All free programmes were only trials anyway. Had problems with internet explorer and the system coming to a halt often so looked online and have installed google chrome which was advised and as the posting said works fine. No problems with speed or otherwise now.
#23
May I ask how do you apply for the cashback?

I purchased one of these in December also and only just got the email from Lenovo 2 days ago saying the cashback claim had been accepted. You then have to wait upto another 30days for the money to appear in the bank.

I suspect they are really busy as they are always offering cashback deals etc where you have to claim

You don't want to replace any i3 for this. The N2840 is basically a rebranded Atom. It's fine for basic stuff, but even your 1st gen i3 is faster than it.

You'd probably be better off replacing the hd in your current laptop with an ssd, as the disk is probably 5400rpm and getting hammered.

As I presumed. Cheers.

Would this be okay for holding all of my music, and using iTunes to transfer it to my iPhone? Or should I go with a desktop? Thanks

Very pleased with it so far. Absolute bargain for £160!

Just got one. I put an SSD and works great, and no noise! Lenovo software it's not bad, love the Veriface Pro feature. Recommend!
#31
@ facls : changing to an SSD is it staright forward or one has to remove the whole Motherboard ? also upgrading RAM anyone ... multi tabbed Chrome browsing and running word etc would cause it to freeze/ crawl ?

When claiming cashback select 'laptop offers' and from the drop down menu select MCA2WUK.
