To anyone that didn't know, Lenovo took over from IBM and kept everything, including their quality, with it.

Good spec. Good price.

Whats the difference between this one and the one listed? Apart from Vista vs XP.

I had a (drunken) look over them both and the main difference is the Dabs one has XP Pro and the LD one has a slightly faster processor and Vista Home Premium.

Obviously a faster CPU is better but you could argue about XP Pro over Vista HP till the cows came home. If it was Vista Home vs XP Home then Vista wins no contest - it's not regarded as a 100% successful OS but it will have a longer support life than XP. However, XP Pro offers some more advanced features such as IIS and advanced networking. If this means nothing to you though, the choice is simple - the LD one with the faster CPU and newer OS.

The LD laptop has 2x512mb ram but Dabs has 1x1gb which gives you a spare slot thus upgrading to 2gb is cheap. The LD has a T2350 processor which is faster. The Dabs has a 4 PIN FireWire.

Agree on the quality aspect from above - I had an old IBM r31 and it has just kept on running - great quality.

I use a IBM R50e, its built like a tank.
