Lenovo idea centre - was £300 now £249.99 @ Ebuyer (ebuyer and amazon showing £50 recution compared to last week)
Lenovo IdeaCentre Q180,
- Intel Atom D2700 2.13GHz Dual Core
- 4GB RAM + 500GB HDD
- AMD Radeon 6450
- Wifi+hdmi
- Windows 7 Home Premium
see link for more
I am about to purchase one, and seeing that it has dropped £50 from the RRP is a bonus instead of paying the full £300 which was a little much, and feel this is prob one of the better (out of the cheap htpc nettops) out there to buy....

Considering the price to actually have 4gb ram, 500gb hard drive and win 7 home premium these days.. (can get alternative models for cheaper such as zotac, but don look as good, feel more flimsy) so have some heat.
I've used many brands before and different levels of processors..
Would this be ideal as a bedroom multimedia device, and would the atom be suitable for xbmc/watching movies that are saved to the hdd?? (movies being the primary use) rather than buying a ps3 to do this??
Revo has 1.65ghz, and Linux instead
But reduced from £249.99 to £211.99 at ebuyer..
I wouldn't recommend.. I have had one of these for around 3 months..
Came with a wired keyboard and mouse so by the time u buy a wired one, it's an extra £20-£30.. Also, struggles to play my hd vid files via windows media centre or xbmc, but my worst experience though was the temperatures, in idle use still too hot due to the little fan.
I returned this and for £50 more, I brought the acer revo RL70.. More or less the same, but came with a wireless keyboard mouse, and a blu ray drive and has been working fine since..

"Recoup: To receive an equivalent for; make up for: recoup a loss."
Recution - A reduction in price that saves you the loss you'd need to recoup if you'd paid the original price?
Based on only saving £10, the machine is good but better value for money would be the Zotac htpc and Acer Revo/aspire... If you really want a htpc for entertainment needs.. I have the Asrock, cost £599 on amazon but is a lot more more powerfull with 8gb and i5 proc.
I really want to order one, based on user comments, would anyone recommend this as a good buy for home entertainment/media or recomend something else.
I only want it for movies/media, I already have a high end i7 laptop for everything else, which is why I want something cheap and cheerful :P
