Bit of heat from me, i had bought the AMD 12 HP laptop for £449 last week. full of bloatware and was only a windows 8.1 laptop with updates on.....
Took it back and got this and it is brilliant, worth the money.

probally because no SSD

Hot. It has an optical drive, so if you must have an ssd then it's easy. Good spec. This was listed about 2 days ago, but the listing was cancelled for some unknown reason.

Why are people voting this cold, I don't get it?

Full HD, i7, 8gb, 2TB(some people want space not speed) from a really good store?

You got a 3 year warranty on this from John Lewis too! I think you got yourselves a good deal

Ordered, thanks OP! I really don't understand why this is cold. Great spec machine for the price including the John Lewis guarantee. I would much prefer greater storage capacity over the speed advantage of an SSD, and according to the website the optical drive supports blu-ray discs which seems to be quite hard to find in a laptop (the ones I've looked at anyway).

Hope I don't offend anyone, but it's quite annoying to see the laptop deal threads littered with comments (and presumably voted cold) such as "not full hd", "no ssd" or "you can get better for the price" with no supporting information as to where one can purchase the better deal (because the deal no longer exists). The trend for prices is surely upwards with the expected rise in inflation, so I doubt the amazing deals of the past are likely to be repeated any time soon.

By all means, leave a comment if a laptop is lacking in some way, but (IMO) a deal shouldn't be voted cold if the price point doesn't warrant it. The important thing is that people know what they are buying and they can make their own decision over whether they need the extra / missing features or not.

This massive pricing in-flux reminds me of Black Friday! (Flux Capacitor Circuits anyone? ('pun' intended ... lol)
