I hope it may be useful for someone looking for a half decent spec machine for less than £500.

Original cost £549 (currently reduced): then at checkout apply "LENOVO50" for £50 off = £499

Also: TCB is 1%, so potentially the price becomes £495.

Quick spec:

Screen: FHD IPS screen (1920*1080)

Processor: i5-6267U

RAM: 8gb DDR4

Storage: 256gb SSD HD

+ Backlit keyboard and usual connections.

Laptop is partial good plastic and aluminium as far as I'm aware; I've done a bit of research and it seems to get very good reviews.

The 940MX is around 20-30% faster than the Iris 550 found on the Intel cpu.

Benchmarks here:

Intel Iris 550

GTX 940MX

Personally think that's a great find for the price. Please take into mind that you won't get fantastic results when playing 'AAA' titles like GTA V but t should be a pleasant experience on lowish specs at 60fps. It will kill perform decently on FIFA and Football manager however for the next few years

Isn't this a better Deal / Spec? It has an i7 processor & it's a hybrid

is this like a t460 business laptop ?

This looks like a good deal. I'm coming from a 7yr old Pentium T4300 which, although it does the job isn't exactly nippy. Seems a decent processor, SSD, good RAM, and excellent screen. Was hoping to spend less than £400 though :D

I was hoping for a £400 machine too chap, but the SSD sold it for me, there's just too much of a difference in speed not have it for the sake of £100.
Anyhow; happy hunting :)

yep that's the downside. will they have any untouched with seals or will they only have modified ones that they call a so called service which you have to spend an extra £35 to get as it comes with a USB stick or as I call them second hand because the seals broken

Wouldn't the faster processor on this compared to the 6200u decrease that difference though? And the hdd compared to ssd here?

Both CPU's feature the same GPU, the Intel Iris 550 so will perform identically.
An SSD will improve load times for the games. Framerates will remain the same.

Just a heads up - 10% back on Quidco, Curry's, on everything until tomorrow. If it tracks, of course.

Would that work with the £50 off code? If so, this is very tempting... Don't know whether I should hold out a bit longer for Black Friday deals though?

i worked it out but quidco hace tracked it at 2 percent, not 10!

Erm the other machine isn't using its marginally slower 520, so not sure where you are going there. But was thinking more of the CPU load which will still make a difference, hence most games tests done on i7 machines.

'Cashback may initially track at a lower or higher rate and update once confirmed'

From info at bottom of Quidco Currys page. Fingers crossed...

These laptops look so ugly with the thick bezel

Just a little update; I received the laptop today (ordered yesterday).
Build quality is great! Little to no flex to the screen or keyboard. Screen with its IPS 1080 res screen really is fantastic, with super wide viewing angles.
I've timed it doing a cold start up to log in screen; which it took around 8sec, and ready to use in about 10-11sec.
I underestimated the usefulness of a backlit keyboard, now that I have it, I wonder how used a laptop without it.
Sound is great, considering it's a 14" laptop.
Downside: the trackpad could be a bit better and it comes with some bloatware, but nothing that you can't uninstall.
So far so good...

is it not better to get yoga 510 which adds 360 perspective and touch screen. on £599>
#29
I bought this machine after looking at the slower spec Very deals a few weeks back and doing some more hunting about.
The CPU on this outperforms the Yoga mentioned above and the other 6200 units.
Check it out on CPU Boss. There's a big performance jump on this i5.
It was £600 (from Lenovo store) when I bought mine but using Educational discount I got it for £520. Pleased with it, as mentioned the bootup is so fast and using it for music production and some jpegs/video editing.

Proceed through the checkout process, after choosign the delivery options, there will be a box to input it. 'Order summary' or something it says.

I tried it and it worked for me.

Does anyone know if you can fit a 2nd SSD into this laptop?

Hi,

How have you found the weight of the laptop? I need something to carry around with me and my current HP 15.6" is a brick. Is the up to 6 hour battery life for medium use or is that all settings on minimum?

Thanks,
J

I have no idea, from what I've read and IIRC; I don't think you can.

J,

I came from an old 15.6" brick of a laptop too, this is much lighter and smaller with a slight reduction is screen real-estate.
I get around 6hrs with wifi, bluetooth, "location" setting on and with the screen brightness on 90% , plus with the backlit keyboard on.

I hope that helps.
