Seems a great alternative to an Asus Transformer TF101! What's the Screen technology? IPS LED?

seems to be good , but is this a new release from Lenovo ? or old model ?Just confusing which one to go for ... Is this having home BUTTON or soft key ? my 2 yr son makes me worried by pressing my phone home button so hardly that it might break :-) ,so if this has soft key then should be very helpful for me.

Sam Tab 2 vs Lenovo K1 , came across this site , seems good

    http://compareindia.in.com/comparison/261602-lenovo-ideapad-k1-vs-278312-samsung-galaxy-tab-2-101-gtp5100/442

negatives seems to be weight 750 gms vs 596 gms , Not full HD video recording, but lot of positives like Battery life , 5 MP camera , HDMI , upto 64GN upgradeable , Lot of Lenovo apps etc etc ... Too good ?

has microsd and hdmi out which the samsung doesn't have although it is slightly heavier.
it has a physical home button
display apparently isn't very bright compared to IPS ones

Been using them for 10 or so years and not had a problem. There was a period where they were slated for support a few years ago, but then I've grown accustomed to poor support from everyone (step forward Apple and Samsung)

Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4) Vanilla

"Lenovo is providing a basic non-customized, region-independent release of Android 4.03 aka Ice Cream Sandwich for customers who wish to install this OS on their IdeaPad K1 Tablet systems.

This release differs from the factory-installed Honeycomb 3.1 release and subsequent OTA (Over The Air) updates to Honeycomb 3.2, and it does not include Lenovo customizations such as the launcher, pre-installed Apps or an App store, nor the underlying framework.

Installation of this release will erase ALL data on the system including all factory Apps as well as any customer installed applications, music, pictures, etc.

This release is generally not recommended for the casual or mainstream user who is unfamiliar with the Android OS and customizing it."

That sounds good to me. A nice clean Android install with none of the Lenovo bloatware on top.

Actually I quite like the idea of pure Android without the crap vendors put on - but probably not for those who don't want to tinker.

The ICS for this tablet from Lenovo is kinda BS. You will need to go third party to get a good ICS experience on this tablet.
    badasschris
I would stay away from this one. Uses old and pretty bad processor/gpu and its not a big seller so will have next to no support from manufacturer or the community so I doubt you will ever see jelly bean and all other android tablet os are laggy and annoying.
