I'd agree, but if you're only after 10 inches this looks hard to beat.

I could be wrong - but doesn't this have a 1024 x 600 screen as opposed to the 1280 x 720 as advertised?

Is Windows 7 Starter even worth having?

No - it's terrible - I have it.
you can't even change the desktop background!!
#7
That's a good resolution for a 10" Screen - any one got one or seen one? :)

Definitely! Plus it has a proper copy on Windows on it AND it has a 6-cell battery ;)

Thanks for the confirmation. My understanding was the same, supported by the fact that M$ don't even sell it in the US.

Apologies - looks like there is a version with the higher resolution screen.

Depends whether you want to pay the extra £20 for a better webcam and higher res screen.

Hey y'all can i have some advice for what notebook to get.
i have come across two decent deals. Either the:

Lenovo IdeaPad S12 - £219.00 or DELL Inspiron Mini 1018 £199

The Lenova has a 12" screen, 2GB RAM and Full Windows 7. Is this a no-brainer?
Dell does have an LED 10" screen & better battery life but windows starter edition only. Is the Lenova the one to go for or can anyone think of any better ones around this price?. I dont play games. I will be using it to browse internet, youtube, watch movies, msn. Thanks

There is nothing wrong with Windows7. I admit that the desktop restriction appears stupid but if your idea of a decent OS is the ability to change the desktop picture you clearly have no idea of what an OS's job is. Windows 7 is sold in the US exactly the same way it is sold in the UK. It can only be bought with a new system. It is perfectly good for the hardware limitations that you have with a netbook. The extras in Windows 7 Home Premium would not work well on an Atom netbook. The only big problem with starter is the ability to join a domain, not a problem to your average home user.

starter is a clunky mess, my acer 521 would freeze and lock up. avoid
