Seems like a good buy. Stick an extra 2gb of RAM and you have a very portable and capable machine.

not bad - any new gen offerings at this size?

Nope, all i3's and most i5's are dual core. Some of the i5's have hyperthreading allowing it to act like a quad but it really only has 2 cores.

mite need a lil more grunt if u wanna play some games

If the battery life was better this would be hot for me
#7
A sammy q330 would be more suitable at that price range imo
#8
Poor battery lets this down but not a bad price. Needs the extra 2gb RAM as others have stated.

Have some heat!

Seems good to me. I doubt battery life is ever going to be much over 4 hours on a 13inch laptop with an i3 and discreet graphics. That's why I went for a ULV CPU and switch-able gfx (can thus switch to the i3's integrated gfx to save power?).

Still, 3-4 hours isn't bad. An optical drive on a 13inch machine is nice to see too.

What laptop did you get?

Great specs - gets heat from me.

But battery life is too low for a portable imo. Also quite weighty.

I'll be grabbing this one in a couple of days (unless something better comes along): Click Me

Samsung Q430 which is slightly bigger is better for thos that want a slightly bigger laptop/screen.

I think you guys should check if you can replace the CPU - cos you could grab an i5 or i7 and drop it in if you can.

The whole idea is portability with a bit of graphics power and on balance this ticks the boxes, once your upto 14" screens your in a different category and may as well go 15" will full on 1GB graphics I5 etc.

I'd of jumped on this if the battery had been better. I'm hoping the samsung q330 or one of the acer timeline xs with i3s drops back down to under 400

anyone got one of these and can help with a few questions?

1. im seeing mixed reports of battery life - one review stated over 5 hours with wlan on. any real life figures?

2. i know it has discrete gfx but whats the real life gaming like? magika? witcher 2? portal 2?
