looks nice
4gb version will be this one but them actually opening and upgrading? (rather than a boxed 4gb version)
they say 'exclusive' but 50 is what they charge for upgrades on other machines i looked at before.

ok thanks, thought might be the case and thought id make it clear.
to me its not quite the same as a prebuilt newly boxed one but maybe thats just me^^ bit cheeky to call it an 'exclusive'

looks good,i think 2GB would run fine for most things especially with the dedicated graphics helping out.

battery life upto 3 hours usually means more likely 2hrs in the real world but still a good spec for the price so hot from me.

Nice looker but the RAM is a bit low for the price and that video card doesn't benchmark very well unfortunately.

What's the GPU?

To be honest, this would be fine unless you want to do any intensive graphics/video stuff or play any recent-ish games on it.

The GPU is a GeForce 310M - as you say fine unless you want intensive graphics/video or latest power-hungry games.

Yep - good spot :)

Hot from me!

Geez, there's some good laptop deals about. This is nicely specced all rounder from a reputable manufacturer at a v good price (ten quid cheaper at ebuyer). I must stop browsing HUKD as I could quite happily buy a new laptop every week!

Possibly on low settings but I wouldn't buy it really if you're after a gaming machine.

How easy to change ram?
#16
On the majority of laptops it is just in the bottom and you just need to unscrew a cover and then insert/remove and insert the module.

Basically, not difficult at all.
#17
in that case wouldnt be a bad buy from ebuyer at that price + a 2gb module?
#18
You could, or maybe try one of these instead with voucher code 6700.

I mailed ebuyer regarding the HDD speed as I found the same information as you have stated above and they told me it was 7200rpm.
#25
newer model z560 are 5400rpm
ebuyer would probably tell you anything

These guys are selling a z560 with 7200rpm drive. Although it is a lot more expensive. I don't see why ebuyer they would lie about it.

very true and that link does share the exact manufacturer number, i was looking on lenovo site which only has higher specced z series listed here
didn't think they would have gone backwards but perhaps for the increased size

is hdd rpm listed on boxes? otherwise how would ebuyer know? lots of mistakes get made on net intentional or not but would be nice for this to be 7200rpm and i guess there is clear case for return if wasnt

Yea, granted ebuyer could make a mistake. I'm sure a spec would be on the box. It took the customer services team literally 2 minutes to answer my question via their eNote system. So I was assuming they had the information to hand. ALthough surprising that they wouldn't advertise it on their site, as it is a plus point of the laptop.

I've ordered one anyway so will find out by the end of the week.
#29
notice on ebuyer description for the gfx card says up to 1gb dedicated, how can this be?
#30
They're probably taking it from here. Pretty sure its 512Mb dedicated graphics.
#31
Also how much does it weigh
#32
The weight is listed in the original deal link.

Anyone got an opinion how the Levono Z560 compares to the Acer Aspire 7741 available here for £459.http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/630713/ACER-AS7741?cm_mmc=Google+Shopping-_-Feed-_-Laptops-_-630713_ACER_AS7741&_$ja=tsid:8360%7Ccc:%7Cprd:AS7741%7Ccat:Laptops

Yep seems like a pretty tasty deal alright. Big 17" screen, 3Gb RAM and dedicated graphics. Thats good for the price alright. I doubt the screen will be a good resolution(although will do for most things), the HDD probably 5400rpm(if that bothers you) and cause its 17" its a bit more heavy. But still if your looking for 17" laptop that seems great.
#35
Although, the Geforce 310M rates slightly(6%) higher in the benchmark. Probably wouldn't notice the difference. I didn't see and eSATA port mentioned either. But if you want a bigger 17" definately seems like a very good price. I'd prefer a Lenovo based on build quailty I've seen on other friends Lenovo's.

My z560 arrived! This thing is NICE! Bought mine from ebuyer though. Ebuyer one definately comes with 7200rpm HDD, although not stated on the box. It even has an expresscard34 slot so you could add firewire i think. I am very impressed with the build quality. Any questions let me know...

I thought the quality had gone downhill a bit since they took over from IBM?

I've only had the z560 under a week so everything is based on initial impressions. Personally, I think the build quality is great, but thats just my opinion. I had ordered one of the HP G62-107SA refurb's previously but it came with a faulty screen. I still got to play about on it. The build quality is far superior than the HP, glad I got the Lenovo.

The keys on the keyboard are all separated and surrounded, I assume this is to stop crap falling down inside. I haven't found it hinders my typing in any way. There is a full num pad to the right of the keyboard, it doubles up as pageup/down, home, end and arrows although there are also inidividual dedicated keys for all these too. There are four touch sensitive buttons at the top right for mute audio, screen settings, energy settings and fan settings(includes a 2min dust cleaning cycle). Surrounding the trackpad and keys is what looks like brushed aluminium, although im not sure if its just plastic, it looks nice though. The trackpad isn't smooth it has little lumps on it, doesn't bother me but some mightn't like it. Left and right click keys are nice and soft to press. The lid is glossy on the top so shows up finger prints.

I'm pretty sure the RAM configuration is 1x2Gb but I'd need to double check. Also the screen I'm fairly sure is a TFT although again I'd need to double check.

On the box my build type was a z560 0914 same as here. There is a fairly detailed spec there and it states 1x2Gb RAM and TFT screen.
