Heat screen def?
Lenovo are no different to the other major manufacturers. I guess it's a little like the Megapixel race on cameras; consumers look at HDD size, CPU speed and RAM so manufacturers invest the money there rather than providing a well balanced system.
You're right - I guess this deal was expired before it was even posted ;)
Hello,
Greetings from Amazon.co.uk.
This is a followup email regarding the conversation we had on Amazon.co.uk chat.
I understand you would like to know whether the "Lenovo Ideapad Z580 15.6-inch Laptop (Gunmetal)" comes with £100 cashback.
I've checked our website and see that the cashback offer for this item is no longer available with us.
In this case, I would request you to contact the manufacturer "Lenovo" to know more information about the cashback offer. They will assist you further.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Also the HDD at 5,400 RPM seems very slow. So that would need to be replaced with a 256GB SSD for what I need I think too. Could the motherboard support the SSD at full speeds?

Just purchased. Think this is a STONKING DEAL at £579.99 with cashback for an I7 8Gb 1Tb 2Gb Dedicated and Bluray
Expired as this is an old deal and will not be read.
on for another half a month.
the processor gets impressive benchamarks
Dedicated graphics are pretty standard for a laptop (so below average desktop speeds, not for the gamers out there)
if you plan on using this for any kind of music production or something with long processing times the ivy bridge is worth it.
Just to reiterate, Summer Savings deal is still on as long as you are invoiced before the 30th of september, which knowing amazon, won't be a problem if you order in a morning or the evening before a working day.
Have to cancel the order.. :-(
- No Gigabit Ethernet.
- Screen is a typical x768 (nothing special)
- No backlit keyboard (should be standard for a laptop this price).
Ideally like to go for a Lenovo as the build quality normally is better. Have my eyes on the IdeaPad Y580. Might have to wait a few more months before prices drop to 500-600.
Meanwhile I'll carry on searching for a decent i7. I've finally saved up enough cash lol.

There's a review of a Z580 i7 on pcadviser that specs a gigabit ethernet port
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/laptop/3371524/lenovo-ideapad-z580-review/
One of the pdf files for the z580 on the Lenovo website also suggested that some models have gigabit ethernet. Hopefully the i7 models do.
Mine is being delivered thurs/fri so I will try and post my findings when I have had chance to play!
