Lenovo is offering a £50 cashback for their Windows 8 tab from 24/06/2014 to 23/07/2014: http://lenovo-offers.com/consumer

and Amazon is offing a free £25 Amazon Gift Card when you buy a qualifying Microsoft laptop or tablet: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000808173

So for £149.95 (or £124.95 if you consider the £25 giftcard as cash) you can get a full blown 8 inch Windows tab with Office 2013, I think it is not a bad deal at all.

To order, go to this page: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000808173
Tick the tablet and £25 gift card, then click Add to Basket. The discount will be shown at the final purchase confirmation page.

Lenovo cashback: http://lenovo-offers.com/consumer

I have copied part of the T&C from Lenovo website (http://lenovo-offers.com/uk/en/pages/consumer/terms) and highlighted the parts that I think people may be interested:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. The Promoter" is Lenovo Technology UK LTD, Discovery House, 18 Bartley Wood Business Park, Bartley Way, Hook, RG27 9UP (please do not send any correspondence to this address).
2. The Promotion is open to residents of the UK and Northern Ireland only excluding wholesalers and retailers selling any of the Promoter's range of products. Also excluded are businesses, employees and the families of the Promoter and the Promoter’s agents, and anyone involved in the administration of the Promotion. Participants must hold a bank account in the UK or Northern Ireland.
3. This Cashback Promotion offers a cashback for Lenovo products included on the Website ("Qualifying Products") bought between 00.001 (GMT) 24 June to 23.59 23 of July 2014 (Inclusive) (“Purchase Period”). Details of each Cashback Promotion including Qualifying Products and Cashback Amounts are published on http://www.lenovo-offers.com/consumer (“the Promotional Website").
4. The Programme is only open to purchasers of Qualifying Products bought from Amazon and John Lewis only. Consumer Purchases bought directly from Lenovo or Lenovo distributors are ineligible.
5. Claims must be submitted by the end user customer who purchased the product only. Resellers, retailers or any other entity may not submit claims on behalf of their customers.
6. A maximum of 3 claims per household address is permitted during the promotional period.

How To Claim:
7. In order to qualify for a Promotion, customers must register their purchase and complete the claim form on the Promotional Website no sooner than thirty (30) days and no later than sixty (60) days from the date of invoice. For the avoidance of doubt the date on the proof of purchase counts as day one. If claims are submitted before or after this claim window they will be deemed invalid and rejected.
8. When completing the claim form customers must upload proof of purchase to the Promotional Website. The proof of purchase must be the selected Reseller's invoice or valid VAT receipt and must clearly show the Qualifying Product(s), the purchase price, the retailer and the date of purchase.
9. Once the claim has been received and approved, the participant will receive confirmation of receipt of the claim form by email ("Confirmation email") stating whether or not the claim for cashback has been successful. It is the claimant's responsibility to contact the agent using the email address [email protected] within seven (7) days of their claim being sent if an email acknowledgement has not been received.
10. Customers providing an incomplete claim form will be notified via email and offered the opportunity to provide the required items within seven (7) days. If the customer still fails to provide the required information or otherwise fails to comply with the terms and conditions, the claim for cashback will be rejected.
11. Payments will only be made to the individual who has purchased the product and whose individual name appears as the recipient on the proof of purchase invoice.
12. Provided that these terms and conditions have been met, Lenovo will at best endeavours pay valid cashback claims by bank transfer within 28 (twenty eight) days after sending the Confirmation email to the customer. Lenovo accepts no liability for claims processed outside this timeframe.

*Strictly* speaking the Amazon free £25 gift card offer expired on the 23rd of June, so they have every right to decline your order, but it is still processing with the discount so this is hot for now! It's even better than the lightning deal from a fortnight back.

Mine has gone through with the card, bit of a bargain after the cash back for a toy to play with, sorry Windows tablet to evaluate.
#4
Didn't apply the voucher when at checkout page on my order after adding it from the £25 gift card page,. Am I doing something wrong ?
#5
did you follow the link and tick both boxes for pad and voucher the add to basket at once?
#6
Wooky42
did you follow the direct link in post one and tick both boxes for pad and voucher then add to basket at once?
#7
I did but it applies the discount to the tablet but then charges separately for the voucher. If you remove the voiucher, the discount is removed from the tablet !

Second time I've missed out on Mixx2 8 deals, last one was the Amazon lightning deal a couple of weeks ago, GRR !

!

You get charged the same amount with or without the £25 voucher, with the voucher you have a £25 Amazon credit to spend on other things in the future.

Ordered :-) now need to find a case. A few reviews have mentioned an official case and stylus but can't find it for sale in the UK
#10

Does anybody know if the license for MS Office that comes with this tablet will allow legal installation of Office onto a desktop PC? And, how would one do that without disks? Download perhaps? I hope someone can help, as this could be a good extra reason to buy this already brilliant deal :) Thank OP :)

8 hours of battery life ,

It just has fat finger support, so any capacitative iPad style stylus will work - but it doesn't have proper high res support

8 hours of battery life ,

Why is it in the face of a quote and link to a reliable website, people just post something without backing up their point? What's the source for 8 hours please???? I might buy one if it's 8 hours.

"Choosing Windows 8.1 over Windows RT has had an effect on battery life, with the Lenovo Miix 2 8 only managing just over 3 hours of medium use, which is far less than the iPad mini or Google Nexus 7. Both of these benefit from their lighter, optimised operating systems."

The 3 hours battery life is at full load, it easily gets 7-8 hours from a charge with wifi on and normal usage. I know because I own one.

I have dell venue pro 8 which is the same chipset and 8 hours is doable. Also work for Microsoft and the effort that's fine into reducing 8's hardware footprint is unreal.
These little atom units fell really snappy...

That is refering to 3 hours during benchmarks where the CPU, disk and RAM will be used heavily, not giving a real world usage

Damn you all I bought it!!!!!

( I had to buy it twice as I missed the £25 card off the first time)

Nope - The official sleeve is not for sale in the UK :( It is however purchasable on Amazon.com fully imported for around £25

Nice that must be new as when I looked a couple weeks back it didn't have a price on their site - Bit steep though when you can get it imported for 1/2 the price!

No - It's not eligible - it says that on the item page in the "small print"

No it doesn't allow legal installation. The licences (COA) that I've seen specifically mention the laptop on the licence. The licence in intended to only be installed on this device. The licence should be on a seperate card but once you look at it, you'll realise it's obviously only for this device.

Good question and I'm not sure of the small print but I was easily able to transfer the Office licence that came with the £150 Medion Win8 notebook that was at Asda recently. Seems that you can do it once per a certain period (sorry, I forget what that period is, maybe monthly).
