Hi,
My wife has a G5 (3GB version) and I have a S7. The S7 is slightly better indoors, it seems to have better colour (brighter). However, the G5 does an excellent job (especially outdoors) and is very fast at taking pictures. Both phones you can tap the screen and the picture taking is near instant (no real delay). S7 is possibly a milli-second faster. You can still just tap as fast as you like on the G5 screen and it takes them almost instantly. We put our kid on a swing (obviously moving) and took pictures as she came towards us. We tapped the screen as fast as possible using both phones and neither phone has any blurred images and the quality was excellent on both. Is the camera as good as S7? Not quite, but it IS an excellent camera.

You'll hear a lot of people saying buy this chinese phone, its faster. That may be true but it depends on what you use it for. I've had several chinese phones and they were pretty good. However, generally speaking, their camera's have been very poor. Maybe they've got better. For me, who wants to take pictures of my kid, the G5 is a perfect choice. We were both suprised how good the camera was on the G5.

Was thinking the duel sim version of this or a refurb Samsung S5 from Music magpie. (I know the S5 is a singe sim)

Which one?

only £10 cheaper than amazon.. would rather trust amazon if it breaks within 12 months.. only because I have been with amazon since their inception.

not a bad price still though, but I bought the 3gb amazon one anyway

Still can't decide , this or the g4, the bigger screen on g4 and faster processor sways it but the ghosting problem is a gamble. If the g5 had the bigger screen I'd go for it.

Or you could wait a month or so for the Nokia 5 or Nokia 6. Nokia 6 has a 5.5" screen like the G4, the Nokia 5 is a 5.2" screen. I have a Moto G4 as we speak, I've really liked the phone on the whole, but Lenovo's updates to the software are pretty much nonexistent. Up until just a few weeks ago, it was still on Marshmallow and July 2016 patch level... in March 2017. That's pathetic. They initially promised Nougat by end of the year, it came over 3 months late. Whether I will ever receive Nougat 7.1.x or above, I have my doubts.

Moto G4 and G4 Plus are great hardware for the price in my opinion, but terribly let down by software updates and Lenovo customer service. Personally, I like my G4 as I said earlier, but I will be looking to purchase the Nokia 5 or Nokia 6 within the next few months and keep the G4 as my backup phone. I doubt I'll move to the G5. Nokia have promised quick monthly security patches and OS updates. They also ship with Nougat 7.1.1 64-bit, not 7.0 32-bit like the G5. Build quality is supposed to be brilliant on the Nokia 6 as well (Moto G4/G5 are pretty damn good as well though). We'll see if Nokia can keep to their word. If they do, other than the Pixel line, they will be the only ones out there with stock Android, great build quality and fast updates. I hope they can pull it off and I'm willing to give them a go.

Thanks for the info, i presume your g4 didn't suffer from ghosting, it seems a total lottery if you get one that does, worrying thing is Motorola will do nothing if you contact them from what I've read.

G4 is rubish, after 6 months of use the problems start appearing instantly (Bluetooth/WiFi connectivity, longer charging).
Recently put 7.0 Nougat, will see, the problems gone now, will let you know.
G5 have smaller battery/screen, the price is the same

I may be biased since i got the P2 a few days ago, but if we're pushing 140/150 pounds why not go all the way for a £199 phone with double the ram, internal space and battery.

Bought G5 few days ago from John Lewis, who price matched this with the laptopsdirect.co.uk for £149.97 with 2yrs Guarantee and Unlocked. Very Happy

Absolutely brilliant phone, I got the blue one from O2 and it it's plenty fast enough with a very nice screen and the fingerprint sensor works really well too, it also feels really solid to hold and the replaceable battery is huge, the back was a bit of a pain to pry off though.

Really don't understand why people are content paying hundreds for something like an iPhone when all they do is browse the internet and use Facebook, this phone is plenty fast enough for it.

My thought too...I was close to getting a G5, I needed a replacement for my Note4 and flagships are pointless nowadays..all you are paying for is better benchmark figures and propping up high R&D and marketing budgets so I was looking a little more midrange this time.
The G5 is a fine phone for the price but the extra you pay for the P2 is worth every penny...and my god that battery...heavy use only sees it dropping about 30% a day!!

Is it only 3 selling the lenovo p2?

Is it only 3 selling the lenovo p2?

In the UK yes, three only. but all Three phones are unlocked. It ships with 3 preinstalled apps by Three that can be uninstalled and has no 'Three' splash screen at boot.
The variant Three are selling is Black with Grey back, 4Gb Ram,32Gb storage, Dual Sim/MicroSD combo
#33
Buy the phone by all means, but move away from Giffgaff. Their internet speed is VERY slow.

I'd be happy with a lower end phone if they made one with a great camera. At this rate I'll be buying another LG G4 to replace my beat up one. I didn't realise how much of an amazing buy it was at £220 back then until I looked into replacing it recently :(

Meaning any sim you want , as long as it's the right size.

I received the Amazon Moto G5 version today which is same with 3GB RAM. Moved to this from a sony xperia Z3c which was about £149 less than a year ago (wish i stockpiled em) but had dropped it too much or should i say my infant son likely has.

Initial thoughts are this is a nice phone, but its big, I needed a stop gap phone fairly urgently and here we are, but Im left wondering if the Samsung A3 2017 would have suited my needs better...

I remember from the P2 thread that some users had issues when recording video (lousy sound) and possibly some sort of video playback sync issue when youtubing. Have these been resolved? If they have then P2 is a great alternative.
Lenovo behind all of these phones , and if their after sales support is poor Im worried that if an issue is identified to begin with (such as the ghost touch in Moto G4) they wont fix it or replace the phones as easily after you buy.

To be honest I had bought my G4 from JL so I was able to return without issue. A bit of advise, If you buy Lenovo make sure to buy from a site that you can easily return. Three and Vodafone from my experience fight back an awful lot when you argue a return.
