Firstly I will say, don't be put off by the word celeron on this one, it's the from the Arrandale architecture range of CPU's (like core i3,i5,i7) just clocked lower and no turbo boost.

"The Celeron P4600 is based on the Arrandale architecture, the same architecture used in the intel core i3 and core i5 processors. The Arrandale architecture makes the Celeron P4600 processor substantially strong in performance. The best part is the integrated DDR3 memory controller, which not only simplifies the motherboard design but also improves the processor to memory transfer rate.

The Celeron P4600 however, does not support the turbo boost technology as in the core i5 processor. It therefore suffers from the same drawback as the core i3 processors. "

Ok now that's out of the way I guess the only other question is the 2GB of RAM, but it's pretty cheap and easy to upgrade that to 4GB if you feel the need.

This is a £300 laptop, i don't think people will expect I5 performance........ This processor is effectively the old Core 2 Duo equivalent, so its not actually to bad for people who want to run a web brower and itunes.
I'm giving this heat. A respectable piece of kit imo. Perfect solution for run of the mill usage I.e.95% of people. With W7P 64 installed too... good find OP.
Good price for a ThinkPad's legendary build quality
Typing this on my Thinkpad Edge 13" with AMD Turion processor and 4GB ram. A superb 'everyday' laptop with 4-5hrs battery life, splashproof keyboard and clear screen. And yes, the build quality is top notch for a sub £400 laptop.

This deserves to be very hot!

From your very own link:

The performance of the CPU is relatively low, because of the low clock rate and the missing Turbo Boost and Hyperthreading. Still the performance per GHz should be a bit better than similar clocked Core 2 Duo, because of the integrated memory controller.

Show me anything with a core2duo for £300!

If people just want to run itunes or a web brower there are plenty of deals like this around

Ahh but you wouldn't buy this for the spec - only to say you own a thinkpad.
Does this really not have HDMI or bluetooth? I though all thinkpad edge had those features...
