hduk has embarrassed itself with this getting to 1000 degrees, theres something not quite right here sure its an ok lappy at a pretty ordinary price but no way is it justifying the kinda heat its getting

Quite right - very suspicious. Retailers are taking advantage of HDUK branding and HDUK are taking advantage of retailer promotion. This linkage only fosters false representations and does bargain hunters no justice at all. Unsuspecting punters will falsely think this is a fantastic laptop deal - IT IS NOT I CAN ASSURE YOU !

A FIVE MINUTE SEARCH ON GOOGLE WILL REVEAL COUNTLESS LAPTOPS WITH SIMILAR SPECS AT SIMILAR PRICES!

1000°C + FOR THIS IS RIDICULOUS !!

I would advise against buying any Edge series Thinkpad. I have had my E320 since December 2011 and it is starting to fall apart. Plastic is separating, HDD makes clicking noises but shows no faults, screen has odd pressure marks even though it has been taken care of well and never stood on. Hopefully Lenovo will sort this out but they are not very helpful.

Your faults sound as if you have a one off. HDD clicking doesnt mean it will on every laptop within that series. Again E350 is different to yours so the plastics will be different....ect.

I don't know what you do with yours, but I have had E520 since June 2011, used on average 4 hours per day every day, and it is still perfect.

You don't have to stand on them to get pressure marks, don't appear on own! Drive - same drive could be in other laptop. Really your machine specific and not at all of any help or interest to anyone re this.

average yes, its sub £300.... at least its not AMD, then you get a below average processor.

Here's your typical AMD CPU in laptops at this price point:

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+A4-3300M+APU

the Intel is 30% faster.
You can also pick up newer and faster i3-2330 laptop (on HUKD) for around the same price mark and even less if you are prepared to go down refurbished route

It is £120 more, unsurprisingly it has a better spec (although a smaller hard drive)

not when amazon have it in stock. £279 after Lenovo summer cashback program.

£379 - it qualifies for £50 cashback, not £150?

It was 329 a few days before :)

Thinkpads are a cut above other laptops in build quality, even the edge (though it's not as good as they used to be!). I still have a 560X from 1998 fully working on it's original power supply, show me an Acer that old that still works :P

mod! please fix the broken hotukdeals temp gauge!

I have had more Thinkpads than I can remember (at least four of them are round the house somewhere) and this looks like a Thinkpad in name only. Just look at the plasticy-ness in that video.

if it was flash drive ;it would be worth it

But there's not much point in it lasting that long, unless you're just using it to run DOS or as a calculator/dedicated solitaire machine. Cool stat. though.

Very good deal. Stick a SSD in it and you'll have a top spec machine unless you need it for gaming

What a terrible comment...no justification as to why...rather useless really

This is reasonable price for an entry level machine. I'm a bit surprised at quite how hot this has got though...

If you don't need CPU power then this deal; otherwise you can pick up a Fujitsu Ivybridge i5 for just £379.

Without the SSD I assume it's still pretty good for use as a SOHO computer which will just be used to check emails, internet surfing and office stuff ?

Feel free to post a link to a new laptop with a i3-2330 in for £300 :)

I bought this last week ...

£199 for a brand new Intel® Core i3-2350M, 4GB RAM , 500GB HDD and that deal only got to 91°C.

That's HDUK for you !! The best deals sometimes never get noticed !!!!!!!!
