The P series is the follow-up of the W workstation models:

The currently consist of only the P50, P50s and P70 all from 2015. The P70 is the first time in ages Lenovo have released a 17" Thinkpad. All top spec with Xeon and Quadro etc. and all VERY VERY expensive.

Anyway all very very expensive (did I already mention this?), and now ~2 years old.

Well, now that Window's DPI scaling actually works quite well it's not bad, but at the default settings it's your eyes which would have to be amazing.

True but still amazing they put a 4k screen at 15 inches.

Yes, impressive bit of technology although higher res screens to tend to need more powerful backlight for a given brightness which is not too good for battery life.

Was going to say, the yields for a 4K 15.6" screen must be awful but did the maths: that's about 282DPI which is about equal to a 5.2" phone with a 720p screen (GSMArena lets you search by DPI so about equal to this Samsung Galaxy J5). So it might be possible to cut the panels into 5.2" segments if they fail. Well, not even sure if cutting TFT is possible as I've no idea how the pixels are addressed. But it would be shame if any panels which fail go straight to the bin.
