What did you expect from a site dedicated to value for money? I know it's an impressive bit of kit and you won't get similar for much cheaper but it's still rather a luxury item isn't it?

Why is this lesser spec machine 4 times the price of mine?

The most worrying aspect on this deal is that this, (insight), is the only site our IT nerds buy our stuff from. I just got given a new camera to use at work and was told to be very careful as it was a very expensive Fugi, over £170, they wer a little! miffed when i told them i had the same identical camera at home that i used as a pocket spare, and that it cost me £61 from Argos. No wonder our firm is feeling the pinch!

I believe you - it's a story repeated over and over again in the corporate world. The biggest rip off is the travel agent (usually AMEX) which has done a deal to get all company's business. Again and again you find you can make massive savings yourself with airlines, hotels, etc. but you're not allowed to. Best answer I got was that the company got a couple of percent back at the year end - after being mugged all year long!

Sorry but apart from the legendary build quality/fantastic keyboard I really don't see what's so amazing about that for the price...

Thinkpads are bought either by Companies or 2nd-hand by wily IT professional who know they get a stonking machine which will last forever for a sensible price 2-3 years down the line.

The laptop next to me (an HP atm tho I've had TPs in the past) cost it's first owner £1450 and I paid £240 and got the last 12 months of his 3 year next-day onsite anywhere in Europe warranty :)

My work buy these and yeah the build quality is superb but like its been said ive never seen anyone with a personal one, cost is through the roof for a personal user especially considering you could get a dell xps for that!

Yes, these are mainly for work only. They are sensible pieces of kit but has no entertaiment or media features at all. I have one and they are pretty dull...
