The Xeon E3-1226V3 powered TS140 seems very cheap at Ebuyer and a number of other retailers (BT store, misco etc) at the moment

is this stock eligible for the current £100 cashback promotion from Lenovo ?

https://lenovo-offers.com/uk/en/pages/business/qualifying

if so its an amazing bargain - but I know sometimes cashback deals don't apply to all prices/retailer stock

Looks like cashback is good for this according to the link in the post ,if so this a steal at £150 after cash back. ..
#2
thanks sim11 - wasn't sure as I've read sometimes cheaper stock is not good for the cashback - and not advertised on the ebuyer website

that said it is similar price at other retailers with cashback

This should be stratospheric!! ebuyer state this is £159.98 after cashback.

The TS140 has been on HUKD often, and this is a sizzling price in comparison.
This is the Xeon E3-1225 3.3Ghz with 4GB and 1TB HDD, no OS.
I have 2, a friend has 5 - no probs with Lenovo cashback.
Check previous posts for FAQs and answers, but briefly:
- very quiet - inaudible under a desk
- can add a graphics card, but mobo has custom PSU connections, and IIRC PSU is small, so tricky, but possible to upgrade.
- no need for ECC RAM
- runs 32GB non-ECC RAM stably
- with some messing around, supports 5x SATA drives (mine boot FreeNAS from USB to RAIDZ-1).
- will run Windows 8 etc.

It's been a while and my memory's rusty, so happy to be corrected!

thanks :) I emailed them about cashback and although not had an answer - the have updated their website

this has the newer E3-1226 - not that much difference

any issue claiming for 2 from Lenovo on same order - or is it safer to put 2 orders in with Ebuyer and pay for delivery twice ?

thanks
#5
It looks to me like the CPU is good enough for VR (HTC Vive or Oculus Rift)
Any chance I could put an RX470 or RX480 graphics card in this?
Not sure how much spare capacity the 450W PSU has.

#9
I contacted lenovo and 2 on one order fine

have just noticed this comes up as a business cashback deal does this mean as in its a business product or only businesses can claim the cashback ?

I have one of these. Bought it this time last year from eBuyer, and the cashback was no problem. A couple of things on mine (don't know if these have been changed since):

- sleep/hibernate states are not supported, it's either on or off
- no extra power to a slot-in GPU from the current PSU. The slot has to provide all the power. I have read from a few sources that a GTX 750Ti would be the fastest card that could go in there (though see sim11's post 2 below).

The HP cashback on the original Microservers caused the same question but I got several without any problem. Can't remember if I made up a business name or left it blank.

I have gtx 750ti in mine ,there is a newer card gtx 950 that should also be able to go in it as it draws power from pci slot .

Good to know. I've not put a card in yet, but may in the future.

ordered one from BT Shop last night - unbelievable price hike from Ebuyer
#17
Can anyone confirm what hard drive is in this , in the previous deals it was a wd black.

ordered one from BT Shop last night

Any movement on your order?

Mine's "processing" but if it doesn't move from that tomorrow, I'm cancelling to avoid not getting the cashback.

Yeah, I ordered on Sunday morning from BT shop but my order is still 'processing'.

What date will go on the invoice - the date the order was 'accepted', dispatched', or some other date?

If Lenovo are (for instance) being tardy with the processing or orders for this so as to minimise the number of cashbacks claimed I would regard this as shoddy, close to fraudulent, practise.
#20
From a phone conversation with them this morning invoice date is date of taking the money = date of dispatch

I was looking at other suppliers last night for alternatives and confirmed with Lenovo they were in the cashback scheme. But now those have increased their prices so my existing order is the only option. Is £254 price with no cashback better than what might be offered in an new cashback deal?

So waiting to see if the order moves tomorrow - if I cancel it will be the 2nd cancellation with BT Shop over cashback. A year ago it was the Dell T20 where they couldn't/wouldn't confirm the specs of the machine. They still sent it so I refused to take delivery.
#21
I'm in the same boat, with an order stuck in processing on bt shop. However I see that the money has was taken from my credit card (via paypal) on Monday (in their t&cs it says paymemt will not be taken until dispatch). There's no way for me to cancel the order online either as it says there should be until dispatch.

I'll be very p'd off to say the least if I subsequently get an invoice dated 1st Dec.
#22
I rang again today and they acknowledge that they are chasing this for several people. But of most interest was that the lady said they could raise a manual invoice (based on order date I guess) so the cashback would still be valid :3

If all else fails refuse delivery and the courier will take it back - he's not bothered.
#23
(taken me a while to activate my account so I can post a followup)

Yes, BT Shop have also indicated to me that they can raise a manual invoice, which seems a bit weird when you read the T&Cs on their site.

In any case, you are supposed to receive the item 1--3 days after placing the order! No update from them otherwise, still waiting and not too impressed...
#24
Hmm --- according to

Qualifying Products

the £100 cashback on the TS140 (code 70A50022UK) is continued through December ;-)

Though I see that btshop.com now give "De'ivery: Due date unavailable" for the server at their new current price ;-/

mine is same, see my last post

according to BT staff mine they were expecting it to be delivered by today - problem is at supplier end, i wonder if these come direct from lenovo

Good spot - at least if they get delivered the cashback is ok.

As for the misprice, it wasn't just BT Shop. The original post was for Ebuyer and I found similar (or better!) at Technoworld and Misco. Both were confirmed as valid for cashback by Lenovo. For all those to be wrong would be strange. Perhaps demand was higher than expected? I wonder if any Ebuyer machines have been delivered?

Anyway I'm sitting back and waiting now the cashback panic is over.

Thanks everybody for joining in and confirming we are all still waiting X)

From ebuyer website:

'Lenovo ThinkServer TS140 Xeon E3-1226 v3 3.3GHz Tower Server' is discontinued; here are some similar products.
#30
I'm still waiting. I ordered from BT Shop with 1-3 day delivery. It's now day 3 and I've had no dispatch notification.
#31
And if you scroll down to page 3 in that list of similar products, there is a TS140 but with 8Gb RAM and 2 x 1Tb disks. (No cashback) http://www.ebuyer.com/722683-lenovo-thinkserver-ts140-70a4-xeon-e3-1226v3-3-3-ghz-8gb-ram-2tb-4u-70a4003muk

Hardly discontinued when they are selling the same basic machine with more RAM and HDD. Just not selling the 4Gb RAM and 1Tb version.
#32
I didn't put order in as couldn't fit a delivery jn to when I'd be jn - but I did buy a Dell T20 last month - put in cashback request tues night and was approved by 8.30am the following morning now just have to wait for the cashback
#33
Have any of you BT Shop customers had any news yet? No change in status for me. I notice it says "Your order is currently set to arrive within 1-3 working days after the order has been processed.". Given that it's in 'Processing' state still, I assume the clock hasn't started ticking on that 3 days yet.

It says "This item is being dispatched directly from our supplier " next to the item in the order description.
#34
I notice it says "Your order is currently set to arrive within 1-3 working days after the order has been processed."

I have exactly the same status as you describe.
#35
I have had someone at BT looking in to my order with the supplier. I was told that the supplier is out of stock. Person was going to find out there wil be anymore coming in. The TS140 is pretty old, it was an old IBM server. on the Lenovo US website they have a TS150 only. In my opinion I think the TS140 maybe EOL and this reduction may have been clear out price, there will be some in the supplier chain and some models in stock with some resellers.

I'm looking at the Dell T20 that was posted earlier, in case the TS140 is cancelled. But for me the TS140 seems a better fit.

Did anyone order from anywhere else?

I ordered a week ago on Friday 25/11 and it is still processing. However if I log in to check my order status and click on quick link to specs, item show as being in stock with price of 390.32

https://www.shop.bt.com/products/product-info/B837?width=500&height=355&titlebar=off

I emailed them twice and they haven't bothered to reply (other that automatic acknowledgement).

I've been ringing them. I rang earlier in the week and was told me that they would email supplier, when I rang today straight away the representative knew who I was and told me the response they had back from the supplier and was going to follow up with one of the BTShop team to see if they knew any more and get back to me.

If you click the link on the page you have posted, the webpage states :

Delivery
Standard: Due date unavailable :( but still waiting in hope :)

Interestingly, if you type the product code into google, you get pages like this one:

http://www.m4store.co.uk/lenovo-thinkserver-ts140.html

who claim to still have 152 in stock, though presumably not as a 'preferred supplier' or whatever vis-a-vis the cashback...

Anybody heard of this 'M4' bunch before?

good find and best price at the moment

They order these from supplier.

They are setup as: https://www.endole.co.uk/company/06106645/m4-consulting-limited

https://www.trustedshops.co.uk/buyerrating/info_XD3D345BB0B8A7AABE2C847AD40AD5CC1.html mix reviews - they dont like HUKD

I am put off with the fact that you cannot ring them in case anything goes wrong.

And they are not on Lenovos reseller list for cashback but they do have other online retailer as an option so worth checking with lenovo - I'm going to wait and see if the BT one turns up.

You could try here:

http://www.uk.insight.com/en-gb/productinfo/id/0004227615-00000001

148 in stock, confirmed approved retailer by Lenovo, £271 including 1 day delivery (cheapest option)

Update: Order confirmation received so hopefully it will be here on Wednesday :3 Then I'll cancel the BT order.
