Anyone ever received a laptop with an WSXGA+ screen from these guys as I'm after a cheap one? I've tried looking at the site but they don't list screen resolutions.

Units without HDD are only £50 - you can buy something a bit better than a 5-year-old 80GB HDD for £50 :)

Laptops with such high resolutions are rare and even rarer through a refurb site.

I would definitely agree, however I doubt most people would feel comfortable attempting a rehaul upgrade like that.

this would be ideal for general use such as web surfing, email and youtube.

Please note though that you would have to install an operating system onto this beforehand which will require a certain degree of knowledgability....

The ones without hdd appear to be grade C faulty units unfortunately.

Oh come on.. the guy mentioned not knowing "jargon" - maybe I appeared to be patronising - but dont forget that this will involve locating a copy of the OEM version that is specific to this machine as well.

Not so LOL after all, is it?

Um, the way I read it, nossa was commenting on the use of the non existent word 'knowledgeability' in preference to the actual word 'knowledge'. I don't think he was arguing the point about a certain competence being required to install an O/S.

Or, maybe I read it wrong. 8)

the word exists* but the incorrect spelling was probably what led to the LOL

    :D

*might be an American word as I don't recall hearing it used in Blighty

Thinkpads are rock solid laptops, have one from 2006/7 that is still running fantastically :)

I didn't even think it was a word, but it is. It seems to be a perfectly cromulent word (you see what I did there?)

I got the 'C' grade with 2gb ram, no hdd/power cable for £50 - had scratches on the case cover but the screen and keyboard are almost perfect. Put a 160gb hdd (£24) and got a power cable for £6, got my own win 7 OS. £80 for a very good spec small laptop is great.

    anyway, HOT deal

1 hour MAXIMUM battery life? That's not a laptop, that's a very thin desktop.

In all fairness, they quote 1 hour but more times than not it will easily exceed that - I have an X60s from them which has a battery life of 5 hours.
