Cracking deal!

Cant believe this is'nt getting more heat! Only other deal that comes close to this was the £500 Medion a few months back - http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/medion-p6624-laptop-akoya-i5-2-53gh/833834?page=7

Had I not bought one of those Medion's I'd defo be grabbing one of these Lenovo beauty's.

I only posted this within the ASUS thread y'day. But thought I could post this as a separate deal so that it will be useful to somebody looking for a good i5 deal.

yeah you can post it as a deal so people can actually see it :)
seen it mentioned a few times i thought, perhaps a different config.

Stop posting such good deals! Some of us are trying really really hard not to buy one at the moment. I'm meant to be waiting until my birthday in June but always get scared I won't get a deal as good as this by then!

I love Lenovo because they are so well built (it's almost all we use at work) and the spec is almost exactly what I want.
#8
I decided to splash out and get it - it seems like the best specs for my price range. Thanks, and have some heat!

These are Lenova ideapads...any opinion on these...build-wise!

Just ordered one - great processor, loads of dedicated graphics mem, Lenovo machine. If only it was a 17", but that's just being greedy.
My first heat ;)

It's certainly a cut above an Acer in terms of build at a similar price level, but don't buy one with the expectation that they are anywhere near as well built as the business orientated Thinkpad range.
#17
Shame a laptop spec'ced at this level doesn't have a gigabit network port.... still hot, none-the-less.
#18
If I hadn't just bought an acer for £180 I think this would have swung me, or the supposed 750gb HDD with bluray version...
#19
Been looking for an i5 with decent graphics for less than 500 notes. This is def the best I've seen. Hot from me!...

Strange how these fold-able computers are still called laptops.

your point?

I am still drooling over the spec. heat added.
#24
Brilliant spec for the price, voted hot!

Oh my God, why with a computer with this spec do they have the standard 15" screen res? That's what is putting me off getting a laptop. And no, I don't want a 17"+ screen
#26
Quite a few reviews can be browsed here.
#27
What use is it though when you've got to keep it plugged into the mains the whole time because the battery only lasts an hour?
#28
Noice! Must resist...........

It's the same use as any other laptop because I have trouble balancing a pc base unit, monitor, keyboard and mouse on my lap. Currently sitting here with a 15" laptop on my lap, power cable plugged in and it's balancing very nicely.

agree with you on the res, i stepped up to a 16inch to get 1600*900 and even that seems a bit low.
think your best bet are sony EB and dell XPS as both can be configured with 1080p screens.
similar sony with better graphics and 1080p would be 700 i think, xps more as their screen costs 200 to upgrade (supposed to be amazing quality) else there are options from dell outlet for ~550+ for 1080p fairly often atm.

The graphics card only supports Direct X10.1 according to notebookcheck, not as good of a deal as it seems then for gaming.

The End
The graphics card only supports Direct X10.1 according to notebookcheck, not as good of a deal as it seems then for gaming.

this isn't a gaming machine and most likely wouldn't be powerful enough to run any pure directx11 games which come out or to have enough options on to take advantage of it for any it does run.
basically irrelevant.

Just wondering if anybody who ordered this has received word of dispatch? I paid £9.95 for next working day delivery, and I'm worried about possible delays as I'll be out all Wednesday morning.

Edit - nevermind, it's just this second been dispatched. Probably won't arrive today though unfortunately.

Edited By: pabulous on Feb 21, 2011 11:14: my query was resolved

I ordered this Friday with free delivery and it arrived today (Tuesday). I've only had an hour to play with it so far, but I must say the build quality is outstanding - probably better than some of the HP laptops I've been looking at. Glossy black top with a brushed metal effect bottom. The keyboard is very good and doesnt have any of the springyness that you get in cheaper models.

I see ebuyer are doing the G560 for £440 now, but with the extra memory, hard disk and GFX this is still a brilliant i5 deal!
#36
Typical, great spec crap screen
#37
Yep, mine came today - really impressed with it so far.
#38
I knew this was too good to be true.

Upon plugging in my headphones, all I hear is a nasty, crackling interference. It's very loud, but I only hear it when the power cable is plugged in. It didn't happen on my old laptop. So bloody typical - the rest of the laptop is great, but this one problem spoils everything.
#39
Thanks pabulous & sexytom for sharing the details. Still undecided though.

Received mine today and getting the exact same problem, otherwise impressed so far.
