This lady is one to watch, she has nine reataurants and this is her first book with all the favourite recipes. She is currently appearing on Market Kitchen and all her recipes have been fab. Her speciality is good healthy food. It is a must buy.

Free postage code already posted is 179free, I used it today.

Currently a London phenomenon (though soon to spread) Leon's aim is to change the face of fast food. Using simply-cooked fresh, local, natural ingredients - with an emphasis on seasonal dishes - the recipes are both incredibly delicious as well as amazingly fast. This book, apart from being a very gorgeous book to own and read, offers over 100 delicious recipes and a fun approach to cooking with big flavours.

ANY clue as to the style, or even a sample recipe? I don't want to buy a book that has the kind of food I don't like... e.g Jamie oliver food - you spend more time picking twigs and leaves out than eating!

I hadn't heard of her!

Seeing as I have done nothing BUT buy cookbooks from The Book people,, I thought I had better check first!

Thanks for that, nihcaj, much appreciated! Unfortunately it would appear I have to spread my love around before the system will let me rep you again! I do like the look of her food, will google more myself and make sure I would use the book. Like you, I seem to buy almost every recipe book on the book people, most of which I read like novels then don't make any of the recipes!

I am not his a fan as such, and anyway I rarely follow recipes as such from anyone closely, but tend to use them as interesting concepts - his included, and I find them pretty useful.

That recipe looks great! One of my aunts lived in Mexico in the early 60s and she made her chilli with chunks of beef, never mince,. It's the traditional way! Thanks for sharing that recipe, I've caught Market Kitchen once or twice, I'll make a point of looking out for her on it.

It's him I can't bear, so I don't want to buy his book. :P I find him utterly unbearable and always have from his first tv series. All that "matey" "Guv'nor" ****, its SO fake, he had a middle class upbringing in an upmarket country gastropub! I find him completely fake, patronising and his tongue makes me feel queasy. Any recipes i've seen him cook are full of twigs and ****, lol. So, no Jamie for me. :p

I will be trying the chilli, I love Market kitchen and record them to watch as I please, that goodness for V + they normally have celebrity chefs on there for a week or here and there for a day. I love some of the recipes and Paul Merrets chicken broth thing is to die for and so quick. Good luck.

Here it is I did it with pok choy for the "greens" please don't judge it until you try it, you will love it.

Ah... that's her.... saw that on the repeat on uktvfood this morning!

Recipe was fine... didn't think much of her technique though.... what on earth was that "marinade" about? Dry ingredients rather like you would use as a rub that she then proceeded to burn black in the process of "sealing(!)" the meat, which of course prevented the meat colouring and getting the flavour that it would otherwise get. I think the taste of burned cumin is particularly awful, (and best avoided in curry making where it can also be easy to do) and if you wanted flavour without that burned effect, it would be far better lightly roasted first instead :-(

Still, the fact she isn't a dab hand when it comes to putting stuff together, that's not necessarily a bad thing - for example Delia has the worst "technique" of anyone who ever presented a recipe on TV, she has hands that are as much use as pig's trotters and she can't so much as slice an onion, she is an old sot too, but her recipes are well researched and actually do work, unlike many!
