Leon: Director's Cut (Blu-ray) £5.99 @ Play

Just one of the best films ever made IMO and cheapest I've seen this (Amazon have it for £7.99 - and will no doubt pricematch once they see Play have reduced) but elsewhere:-
HMV £8.99
The Hut £9.85
Tesco £11.47
BTR Direct £16.99
MovieMail £19.99

Jean Reno (Mission: Impossible, Ronin, The Crimson Rivers), Gary Oldman (Sid And Nancy, Romeo Is Bleeding, The Dark Knight), Danny Aillo (Fingers, Do The Right Thing, A Brooklyn State Of Mind) and Natalie Portman (V For Vendetta, Goya's Ghost, Mars Attacks) in her film debut, all star in this highly influential, seminal 90s action/thriller.

Directed by Luc Besson (Subway, The Big Blue, Nikita, The Fifth Element), Leon is the controversial and unforgettable story of an unlikely friendship within a brutal and violent world. Twelve-year-old Mathilda lives within the desperate confines of a squalid New York apartment block. On returning from a shopping trip Mathilda finds that her abusive, dysfunctional family (and her beloved younger brother) have been slaughtered by a psychotic, drug dealing police officer. In fear of her life she takes refuge with her reluctant, mysterious and solitary neighbour. His name is Leon and he's one of the world's deadliest assassins. And while Mathilda begins to teach him how to live, Leon begins to teach her how to kill.

The directors cut of this is seriously wonked.

The extra scenes are... iffy.
#7
Amazing sound quality - 96kHz. One of a very, very few movies to use 96Hz audio.
#8
unsure if i should go for this....

unsure if i should go for this....

If you own a BluRay player and don't own this it is not even debateable.
Don't do that 'umm ahh' thing and decided to buy the second it goes back up in price or sells out.

dont forget quidco, only 2% though, and free delivery

Brought this in the spring, my wife had never seen it before and was absolutely stunned at how good a film it was, she had tears in her eyes by the end. As AndyWedge has said, don't even think about it, just buy...great film

One of the 'must have' films for any collection. However do not watch the Directors cut as it's total pants, completely changes the atmosphere and feel of the film, stick to the normal version.
#15
Ha! The Director's Cut is widely regarded as the much better version of the film...
#16
I bought this for 5.99 a year ago, and its always been 5.99 everywere.

Not a great deal, and mine was the cut as well

I would disagree with that, not at all
#21
I got this last week. Watched it at the weekend with friends who hadn't seen it before. I've got it admit, I think I prefer the non directors cut version. The extra bits don't really add that much and just distract from the pace of the film.
#22
stunning film great deal
#23
ordered. have some heat
#24
Why are people going on about the director's cut, it has both versions on disc, no?

Yes it includes both, that's why people are talking about both.

Did you sign up just to say that???....

I wouldn't agree, it adds more colour but ruins some of the Indie feel that the theatrical version had. Mention from a girl in Leon's past for example, it's just hinted at before and added mystery and depth. I like the uncut footage but it does also slow the pace a little. But it's such an amazing film that you'll end up watching both and decided for yourself.

The first comment regarding this issue made it sound like the entire blu-ray was flawed because the director's cut is flawed (in their opinion).

For people like me who may have missed it, it's worth repeating, the disc has both the THEATRICAL and DIRECTORS cuts of the movie. Don't let negative comments about the director's cut of the film put you off.

Forgot to say, great offer, heat added.

Also, it's none of your business why I signed up, cheers ;)
