[quote=callum84] From spec,
Power Output [Home Cinema Mode (RMS)]
Total Power 1000W
Front 160W x 2 (1kHz, 3ohms, 10% THD)
Center 160W (1kHz, 3ohms, 10% THD)
Surround 160W x 2 (1kHz, 3ohms, 10% THD)
Subwoofer 200W (100Hz, 3ohms, 10% THD)
Yes good looking spec to deceive the unwary. These will be power levels sustainable for incredibly short times. Also, just look at the THD at that power level. That is not good. Having said all that, this is probably no worse than the way most other manufacturers try and make their kit look better than it is. Just don't expect good clean continuous sound at 1kW.
Yep 10% is pretty awful although it seems to be around the norm for all in one Home Cinema Systems these days, probably why most manufacturers dont publish THD on their spec.[/quo

Yeah calum I was serious.. I do wonder why they 1. Make this kind of claim 2. Get away with it!

My amplifier was over 2 grand. Its about 30kg of serious engineering and its not near 1000w

I don't know why they are not more honest about actual figures 100 watts is more than enough for a livingroom Surround sound set up

Can anyone recommend this as reviews are up and down but generally good. Has it got the power it says it has?
Same price at Currys if you want it quicker, plenty of stock for miles around me, I live in East Sussex

1000W my backside.
On-Mode Total Power Consumption (W) - 80 so yea, that's 1000W output, yea, right.
On Mars maybe. I've never read such crap.
It's hot, same price in currys and pcworld btw

Which? advise this is a system to avoid with below average surround sound performance and ease of use issues. Also Which? guide suggests Currys is currently same price.
