I was in Home Bargains this morning and they had the Lewis Hamilton autobiography for only 99p. On Amazon its priced at £8.54 + delivery, so this is a bargain in my eyes, especially if you are a fan. Its got mixed reviews on the amazon site but at this price you can't really go wrong ...

Up to now I thought Ronnie O'Sullivan had captured the market in autobiographies of halfwitted cretins who's only claim to fame is that they could play a particular game better than most others. This thread, though, shows that there is an endless stream of these planks. Utter cack, wouldnt use it as a doorstop. Voted freezing.

Im amazed anyone would have the face to release an autobiography when they havent actually achieved anything of note (other than being famous for embarrasingly throwing away a world title in very ameteurish fashion when it looked impossible to lose!!)

List it as cheap fire starting paper, I might get a couple of copies to start the fire with- It burns like a treat lol! :D

Agree with everyone here... Plus he is living in Switzerland supposedly to avoid paying British taxes... essentially taking money out of the country... out of our education system, healthcare etc.
#5
Hang on guys - it's not a meeting of the Sunday afternoon 'books that I might have read club'. Have any of you read it?
Certainly not my cup of tea but the price has got to be good if the Amazon comparison is correct.

He went to switzerland because he was sick of the media pokin there nose into his personal life. I dont blame him though, it saddens me to say this country is a load of ****.
#7
Cold again I'm afraid for the fact that he's too young to be doing an autobiography. I'd imagine it to be a bit of a dull read, when I was 10 I was the uk junior kart champ, when I was 22 I was runner up in F1 etc.

If you don't like it you know where the door is, hate people that moan about the country they live in and yet do naff all about it.

Did anybody actually swallow this? a Greedy tax dodger in my opinion.

Excellent price for those that are interested.

Since when do people here consider the tax status of people linked to a deal when voting! Don’t forget to vote The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and other Rock Stars that have or do live abroad cold for any of their deals in the future.
Miserable *******.

P.S. He did blow it didn’t he.

If you can get this hardback book for 99p then that is quite simply an ABSOLUTE BARGAIN. This site is about HOT DEALS and this totally fits that category.

Voted hot, just don't like tax cheats.

Does that mean you don’t like all the American actors and musicians based in the UK because they don’t pay American taxes? This assumes they don’t pay US taxes but you know what I’m saying.

Hamilton will probably pay more tax in the UK in the last 12 to 18 months that he’s eligible to than most people do in a lifetime. If you think of it that way he’s already contributed more than most.

I think it’s down to plain jealousy and ignorance. He’ll have Phil Collins as a neighbour which for some is worse than having to pay tax. :p

I agree that the concept of this book is madness.

However, aren't the votes meant to be about whether it is a good deal for the item if you were wanting to buy it (i.e. if people don't like it you wouldnt buy it so the price is irrelevant?).

I just wanted clarity really, like I say I thought the voting was meant to be about whether the price was good assuming you wanted the item. Not about whether or not you would read it in the first place?

Lets just say I don't get Formula 1.
A global showcase for engineering? yes
A sport? No.

I'm sick of such a big deal being made about this so called sport.

I'm not jealous or ignorant. If it was my a member of my own family, I'd feel the same.

I can't believe this is so cold, seems an absolute bargain to me! It shouldn't become a debate over whether or not we like F1 or Hamilton, the fact is that this is a fantastic price if you're after the book. Surely that's the whole point of HUKD?

Up to a point. I don't think if I posted "Turds for free" it would be voted hot - even though there may be a few people who need a bit of manure.

exactly what i was thinking. i dont understand why all the cold votes. If you have no intention of buying this or are not a Hamilton fan, they simply dont vote hot or cold. Sometimes I think the users on this forum can be real harsh and cold votes like this discourage people from posting anything :x

If you dont 'get' F1 then simply ignore it. No ones forcing you to watch it. Anyway this thread is about a bargain, not a debate on what should/shouldnt constitute a sport.
#20
Yes, might I suggest that if you want to discuss the wider issues, you start a thread in misc??
#21
As above, please start a thread in the Miscellaneous forum if you want to discuss bigger issues than the book deal itself. Thanks.

Personally I admire him for achieving so much in his first season of Formula 1 and for his dedictation to the sport. Oh and thanks for the pointer to the book shaggy :)

Am I having a BLONDE moment? Was this not on here earlier today for 69p?
Gillx
#24
Not sure if that was a mistake as the last reply said it was 99p too, or is it the soft cover version?
#25

Thanx Thought I was having another BLONDE moment?

so, that thread quite rightly gets a very respectable 60 odd percent hot deal rating, whereas this one get slated to death by do-gooders arguing whether or not they are fans of Louis Hamilton or F1.

:whistling:

Oh well, can't say I didnt try to point people toward a bargain.
