Just one problem with it is that it's a Lexmark. The cartridges are priced to be more expensive than the actual printer, plus it's an all in one cart so you have to replace it even if you still have half a cart of ink left (if one color has run dry). I'd rather go with an Epson personally, for all round value for money.

great price for the printer, but have to vote cold because it's impossible to buy cartridges that are economically viable :-(

Lexmarks are pathetic....I wouldnt buy this if it was 99p.....sorry herby but COLD COLD COLD!

I wouldn't agree. I have a P6350 that is perfectly good for an all in one device.
I print about 10 pages per day with it and have to say it's a good value machine.

A friend of mine has the X1270 which has cartridges 16/17 and 26/27. It was under £30 on the High Street.
They were able to use refills on the black and colour cartridges which lasted a bit. On ebay they managed to get 3 cartridges with high yield for £18 (2 black and 1 colour).
So you can make it affordable.
Scanner works very well indeed.

I think the point being made by most posters here is that other printers offer not only good value but better value.

pretty sure the carts are £15 for these printers.

I have had a couple of Lexmark printers.........

(The basic ones)

Both have lasted well!!

I Bought a more expensive Canon printer, and it was Pathetic !!

The Canon stopped working after about four months........

I had lost the receipt therefore no new one/replacement....

I now have a trusty old Lexmark, works fine.......

Also non branded cartridges are not so expensive, AND lexmark cartridges last a lllllllllllllooooooooooooooongggggggggg time !

only £21.97

Canon/Epson prices for the same anybody? My guess £8 a set if that?

Oh and Numpter, you must have just been unlucky, i've got an ancient Canon i550x that i've had for years and its only recently started to get paper jams and its cost me virtually nothing to run thanks to having 4 seperate ink tanks.

Be warned to only expect about 20 pages from each cartridge. Very expensive to run over the long term.

Not any more:x

New Epsons build at April 2007 have some software / hardware lock that means you can only use genuine Epson carts. If you try to use compatables it just refuses to accept the new cart.

You have been warned ;-)

I think it is worth adding that although lexmark cartridges are expensive to buy, they are inexpensive to refill!

They've already cracked that. They now ship the cartridges with the chip not attached to the cartridge to avoid Epson's new rules. You stick it on and bobs your uncle..........it works fine.

I use compatible Datasafe carts for my Epson R300. I bought 5 full sets (Cc,Mm,Y, and two blacks per set) from SVP for less than a fiver a set about two years ago. I still have two full sets left, after printing about 400 HQ photos and 600 blank face DVDs, plus general printing of eBay invoices and suchlike. The R300 has never refused one of them! Amazing printer and amazing value for money. Please don't be drawn in by the loss leader printers that cost an arm and a leg to run. Spend the money up front on a decent printer and the carts cost next to nothing. My R300 cost £99, again from SVP, and is the best i've owned. Far superior to my Canon BJC3000, which packed up a few months after the warranty finished

Must echo other comments. My first all in one was a Lexmark and the carts cost a bloody fortune (which is a great ploy by them I suppose!). Changed to an Epson and now pick up refills for less than a quid (x6 but empty at different rate).

my advice, NEVER buy a Lexmark.

Just my 10p's worth.

Thanks
B
