May be worth checking out the price of the replacement ink for this as sometimes the inks can cost a lot more than the actual printer.

I wont advice buying ink from Lexmark. Cost efficient way is to buy from internet shops.

Check this Quidco link: http://www.quidco.com/?search=ink+cartridge

InkClub is giving away free ink cartridges and photo paper to new customers + £8 cashback for new customers. I usually refill from CartridgeWorld... less than 1/2 price & top quality. :santa:

I saw a stack of these printers in Homebase today - same price

I disagree twe ...

I wont buy ink from Lexmark. Cost efficient way is to buy from internet shops. Any inkjet printer for that matter, buying ink from a third party is the cheapest.

Also, I have a Lexmark Z735 printer and can say its ok.

Just to clarify - for example of INKCLUB - ink clubs regular price for a set of colour and a black for this printer, including postage is £37.54. Taking off the £8 offer you're back to 29.54. The free cartridge offer is only valid on EPSON and CANON printers.

So yes it would be cheaper to dump the printer and buy another at £24.99.

Contrast those prices with an epson printer where a full set of four compatibles can be bought for £5 - £6.

I really don't have time to trawl through all the cartridge sites, but i think it fair to say LEXMARK printers = cheap but really expensive carts. If you plan on using it to do more than a couple of pages a week, then don't buy the LEXMARK as it will cost you more in the long term.

Tiny bit cheaper by Currys as they do 0.5% back through rpoints* and 1.5% back through quidco.

* why bother doing a cashback for 0.5%... the mind boggles!

Hi all - I am looking for an all in one that does faxing. Does anyone have any ideas?

Also PC World have the HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One for £40 delivered, less with Quidco. What do you think of this, compared with say the Lexmark?

Thanks
#17
if you really really, must buy it, PC World have been flogging them for ages at £24.99 if you order online, 3% Quidco cashback for collect at store or 6% if you get them to post it to you.

Cartridges for it are cheaper than the lexmark, but by no means cheap. Epson and Canon are best for cheap cartridges, but i guess it depends how much you plan to print....

the deal started on the 14/12/2006 not the 12/12/2006 as you put :x :x

If you can forget ink prices for a few moments and remember that this machine can print, scan & copy. I've just picked one up for some lite home printing and I think it's a bargain, hell if I need to print our war and peace I'll do that at work.
#21
The real kicker on this is that it looks like it doesn't come with cartridges as Argos seem to list extras if they're NOT included. Had it come with a black & white &/or a colour one it would have been a great little(almost disposable) bargain. As it is the Argos prices for replacement carts looks to be about the average (£15)....but for anyone already using a printer with carts in the early teens it's probably worth a look.

Just bought an all in one Brother DCP-115 for my parents from argos for £39.99 and a DCP-120 for £50 for myseld from comet earlier this year. Same set of carts are used in both and compatible ones cost ~ £6.35 delivered. I won't be buying a lexmark or HP ever again unless their carts get as cheap.
