lexmark = trabant of the printer world...i believe dell printers are rebadged lexmark's

this printer is fairly slow too and doesnt print doubled sided or a fax (latter is a nice to have rather than essential, sometimes handy)

i bought the hp j6410 a couple weeks ago from amazon for about £83 (now its £180!!)...its wired, wireless, has fax, is pretty quick, does doubled sided printing and looks neat too (as far as printers go!!)...never know it may be reduced again

As it happens, I bought the exact same HP a few weeks ago. But back to the subject, I couldn't agree more with the statement about the Lexmark. They really are complete, utter, rubbish. Never, EVER, buy any Lexmark product at ANY price at all. I once unfortunately had FIFTY of the old X85 combo's to support, and I believe that it was around 37 which went back during warranty. Incessant paper jams, comms failures, and similar. The drivers were sodding awful, rarely if ever worked without manual patching. And then my employer bought thirty of its replacements, and they were WORSE.
Please, I beg you, DON'T buy a Lexmark. You don't hate yourself that much, trust me.

mind you i bought the hp j6410 as a replacement for a hp 7210 which whilst only 2 years and moderate usage failed with a carriage jam which on further investigation revelaed that the printer had been damaged by someone as one of the rubber cover on the carriage was missing...prob is like all printers its difficult to open it up without the right tools and thats assuming i can get the part
i mainly use my samsung ml-3051n mono laser printer - superb printer and cost me about £50 1.5 years ago....it did about 12000 pages on the supplied cart...thats well impressive! new refurb cart was £40....its built to last too
i bought and sold approx 30 cheap dell printer's on ebay and kept one myself...sold it as 2nd hand a day later....total garbage
