not wishing to detract from the goodness of this deal but why on earth are people still producing analogue TVs?

Very good question, with some areas going digi next year...

Is that confirmed or an estimate....I mean a wild statement...

Think I read that the dates they were giving out were estimates, probably will depends on any issues they have along the way.

However some areas are not until 2010 and probably some even after...anyone?

So thats 3 year or more down the line for some.

And anyway if your serious about digi then you would probably own a twin tuner PVR like the Topfield which means you dont really have need for a Digi telly, well its not so important thats for sure.

I agree with above post, and it's cheaper to buy a set top box than it is buy a tv with built in digi tuner. Not as nice looking but cheaper. Oh and we are scheduled to be the last to be upgraded so it will take us ages before we lose analogue.
