Nice looking TV for the bedroom and at a good price. May go for this one. Thanks OP!

Regards,
#2
Yup - just went for it. Nice set IMO - Cheers
#3
Really nice TV, I have it in a bedroom for TV & PS3 and it's fantastic. Paid more tha £189.99 though...doh!
#4
99p cheaper at Laskys and possible 4.5% Topcashback - though I realise some may prefer Amazon
#5
Thanks, just what I was looking for in the back bedroom :)

Bought this set from Currys 3 weeks ago for £199.97 (staff were bemused as it was on their website for £249!). At the time amazon had it for £229 (as I remember)

Anyway, it's a nice looking set and picture is very good - reviews have complained about the cheap buttons on top of the set but most people would use the remote anyway for channel, volume and on/off. Sound is good too, not as reviews have said.

Still available in store for £10 more than the Amazon offer but with the John Lewis price match the extra 4 years guarantee might swing it for you.......

ok, got a 32" for £228 last week.
#8
good price and excellent find - will try monday to get john lewis to price match!!!

Does anyone know if there's a way to play .mkv files on this? I'm new to the HD TV lark and am trying to figure out that to buy...
#10
Good deal price wise but I had to take the 19 inch LG that I had bought for my sons' room back to curry's last week as the sound was terrible on it and my eldest son is hard of hearing , just a word of warning . The picture on LG tv's are great but the sound levels leave a lot to be desired . Ended up getting a 22" Matsui television which was only £7 dearer and the sound quality is vastly supreior . Surprising since it's supposed to be such a good make . anyway heat and rep added for such a good find pricewise .
#11
what is the sound like? as i had a samsung 22'' before and the sound was so bad i had to sell it within a month, it was just so thin and weak, no bass or roundness, obviously a problem on any small tv but i have read the LG isent too bad?

I found this on another thread not too sure if it works on this tv

You can activate your usb port to play music, photos and movies (mkv´s with 1080p working!) through the service menu. (LH 3000 - 7000, maybe 2000 too)
You can reach the service menu by pressing "OK" on your remote and "OK" on your TV. Password is "0000".
Once you entered the service menu, go to option 3 and change "divx movie playback via usb" to "HD". Change JPEG to "1".
Use the return key on your remote to leave the service menu.
Now you can use your USB port to play Videos, even 1080p mkv files
#13
I'm sure it's a great deal and all but there's another LG television that is this price that is 1080P. Sound on that one is really bad though.
It wouldn't usually matter for a telly that small but If you're using it for the PS3, 720P looks really fuzzy on 1080P native games.

there are 2 ways

1. Wired method Connect your PC to the telly by the PC input socket on the telly and try to use it like a monitor. I would'nt be that great for text as the telly is not 1080p but should be fine for movies. This is the only method guaranteed to play all files ie if your pc can play it you can watch it

2. Wireless method

If you have a X box 360/ PS3 /wii with wi fi connectivity and a wi fi network in your house.

If so the best way is to use a software called tversity ( google it)

Install tversity on your main computer which is connected to your wi fi

Connect your x box 360 or PS3 or wii to your telly (ensure that the games console is also connected to the internet)

Start sharing on tversity. tversity will start streaming files from your computer all around your house through your wifi router .

you can navigate through the video files on your PC through your games console and your telly and play whichever file you like

Tversity will transcode the video files on your main computer into a format which your games console can understand . If you have a fairly decent spec PC this is fairly quick and takes only a short time to do so

A WD TV would do that nicely, currently just under £70 at amazon

But watching it on my crappy old CRT would defeat the whole purpose of using HD files... :whistling:

Thanks for the response - don't these TVs also have a USB slot that you can use to plug in a drive and watch them directly from there?

Can someone with a 22LH2000 confirm if this works or no...would be great if it does work!
From discussions on AVForums, ounds like it definitely works on bigger sets (32LH2000 and up)

sorry, lost the quotes on my last post....I'm talking about enabling divx playback:

I have the LG 22" M227WD which cost me £10 more but its 1080p 1900x1080 and has 2 HDMI connectors and Freeview. I got mine from Richer sounds but I noticed Curry have now cut the price down to £199 also.

Received it today and going to set-up with my PS3 that i bought from amazon on saturday. Will let you know how it looks and sounds.. Been an expensive weekend for me.. Thanks HOTDEALS... haha:p

Received one yesterday - you can indeed unlock the USB to play back MKV movies (must have AC3 audio though - not DTS). It's very straightforward to do and playback is extremely impressive.

Top picture quality on the TV also - a great deal at £190.

Are there any customs settings for this TV or is it just personal preference?

No it does not.

It looks like the firmware onboard has been upgraded to DISABLE the usb input.

From what I have found it looks like this has to be reverted to an earlier version to enable the usb.

Can anyone confirm this is the position???

Come on you techies......HELP.

The poster at the top of the page managed do it but maybe he had an earlier fw version.

This post http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/520273/lg-37-full-hd-freeview-lcd-399-curr/showpost.php?p=6802272&postcount=62 explains how to downgrade fw for a larger screen LG. As the post says though it's at your own risk.

Thanks for the link, I did a little reading on this, got the two files required and VOILA!! :w00t:

What a superb extra to have, it plays mpeg, avi, mp3, picture files, and thats all I have tried so far.

You have to take the firmware back to 3.15, make two changes in the service menu. Then re-load the current 3.40 and that`s it. The TV can be turned into a nice breakfast tray if the instructions are not followed to the letter, but it works. Superb Hack. Applies to all LH European models according to the gurus... :)

Thanks for the update. I've already d/l the required files from the links in the thread on AV forum but thanks for confirming it does work. It's a gift for a birthday in a couple of weeks, if I get time I'll try and do the hack.

Thar, I read so much on this upgrade I made one initial boobo. I thought it was the 7 button, seven times. It does give you a menu but its not active! Remember.. its the "fav" button that gets the seven presses then all is well.
It`s well worth the time to do, (about 5minutes both pieces of firmware). :)
