its got hdmi so you just need a hdmi to dvi lead (hdmi is better anyway)

anywhere selling it??

it goes on sale on play.com next week

HDMI to DVI converters will become as cheap and as avaiable as DVI to VGA converters.

But considering other 22's are about at £150-£200, even with that added HDMI and TV Tuner, this is very pricey.

Also didn't LG have another TV Tuner one for £199.99 before?
#6
depends what you comparing it to, a hd tv which is probably not as good in quality will cost a lot more
#7
yes but it had no hdmi input

A proper HD Ready TV will be higher quality imo, monitors and hdtv's are not the same thing, I know, I have both.
Also £50 for a HDCP chipset takes the p***
#10
to be honest i just think this is a much better option as alot of hd tv's are well rubbish unless you pay over a grand really
#11
try and find a hd tv for 250 that will be as good as this! if ya can let me know!
#12
just want to ask, about the quality itself compare with those un-welled brand with cheaper price for the same size, does this monitor has better quality, since it has Brightness: 300cd/m2 and Contrast Ratio: 3000:1 (Dynamic)becoz im not really good at lcd tv or monitor. also anyone know if the Response Time: 5ms (GTG) well enough to play ps2 and wii?? and what GTG stands for?

hi not too sure i will wait for some reviews before i get one but the nearest 'main' brand of hdtv that i can find that is comparable to this is the samsung le26r72bx see:

http://www.rgbdirect.co.uk/Referrer.asp?SKUNumber=105291

however cost more but is 26". As for response time 5ms is good enough to play games.

It depends what you need from it. I have a PS3, so I need a monitor with HDMI, or HDCP enabled DVI - not many monitors have HDCP enabled DVI ports. This one, and the LG M228WA, have one or the other. Also, there are no 22" monitors (as far as I know) that have a tv tuner as well, and any which have component connections etc. are not cheaper. I have the M228WA on pre-order from play (when it was £199), so I'll stick with this rather than going for this LG 22LS4R, as both are HD ready; one via DVI, the other via HDMI.

Also, the LG 22LS4R is classed as an LCD TV, therefore will be subject to LG's warranty policy for TV's, which I think is only 1 year, compared to 3 years on the M228WA. The LG 22LS4R may also be better for TV, as it has "2007 XD Engine with advanced image processing"

thanks for the respond, 1 year warranty is ok for me, but one more thing im concerning about the TV/Monitor, i heard some ppl said if you use a tv as a monitor the wording display will become so "soft" and diffcult to see, does it ture or not, or does it apply to this tv/monitor as play state this is a monitor with tv tuner so i guess it should be good for general use, right?

also does it give u better quality when watching dvd via pc compare to the non hd tv/monitor? my pc using dvi out. and dvi to hdmi cable give the same quality as dvi to dvi?

sorry for asking so many question, as i will need to get a new monitor very very soon may be today or tomorrow and i still cant makeup my mind yet.

thanks

Difficult to answer your questions without using one myself! The thing with the 22LS4R is, although it is a tv, it has a monitor resolution 1680x1050, so you would hope that it was a fully functioning monitor too. I'm just confused by this resolution though, as it appears this is a tv (all the usual tv websites are selling it), but doesnt have a standard tv resolution. For example, I have no idea how the monitor aspects would compare to that of the M228WA, but its probably fair to assume that the tv aspects would be better (beter processing etc)

HDMI is DVI afaik - there is no difference in the signal

A proper hdmi signal has HDCP (drm for video signals) they are not the same.

Granted but you can still play 720 or 1080 over DVI can't you?

I'm not too up on DRM - don't use it :)

hdmi carries audio and video dvi doesnt.disappointed with dot pitch on this.
#26
just been thinking will it have the same quality to watch dvd via the pc and via dvd player using hdmi connection?

Here is a reply I got from LG when asking about the M228WA and the 22LS4R:

Thank you for your email. There’s been some delay in updating our webpage as with regards to the 22LS4R, which we apologize for. The 22LS4R is without a doubt best adapted as a TV, and the M228WA is the better choice for a monitor. The 2 products have been developed for these purposes, 22LS4R to be a TV and M228WA for being a monitor. Furthermore the resolution of the 22LS4R is not 1680x1050, it is 1440x900. It also has 3000:1 contrast ratio and its brightness is rated at 300 Cd2. It also features a 3D digital comb filter and noise reduction. If you want further information before buying we suggest you call on 08700492499 and order a brochure of our new LCD range. We expect the website to be updated in a week or two. Best regards, LG Electronics UK Helpdesk

Does anyone have this yet?

Empire direct have been selling for a while now.

I'm torn between this and a sammy 23" to couple up as a telly, xbox and pc screen.

Does using dvi to hdmi cable give the same vibrancy and rich colour or does it end up looking like a vga screen? I have an acer AL1916W but want something that can do everything but has a better image quality and am hoping dvi (hdmi) would do the trick.

I have see the M228WA but am not convinced it's going to come out for a while.

Have seen that the UK LG website has been updated with this tv, and it states the resolution as 1680x1050, contrary to what I was told via email. I've emailed them again for further clarification

I just want to know the quality of this model connected to a computer. I know it's mainly used for TV, but with that res, it would be a waste not to use it for both. I'll also cancel my M228WA and get this if it turns out to be high quality for PCs.

i have order at aj and is very good as a monitor it also has 1680 x 1050 with no problem.

Hi everyone, been browsing the forums for quite a while now, but I've decided to register!

Ordered this TV on Friday from Play, but because I can't be bothered to wait, I cancelled the order this morning (was still on 'order placed') and bought it from beyondtelevisions instead for £258.

Just checked my order and city link have it already for delivery in the morning!! :)

So if I do connect it up tomorrow, i'll post a few pics and tell you what it's like!

-------------

Just had it delivered and took it straight out the box... first impressions... sexy sexy tv! Really is nice.

Awesome delivery speed considering I ordered it at around 1 yesterday afternoon!

As promised, a couple of quick pics because I got to be running off to work in a min:

The connections (which should sort out the arguement of what it comes with!):

Front with 360 on: (picture doesn't do it justice though :angry

http://i10.tinypic.com/53a6byd.jpg

But I would really recommend this tv to anyone!!! Really nice tv!

Hi there,

You don't know what it's like as a computer monitor by any chance do you? That's the main reason I'm looking at this model to use as a TV and as a Computer monitor - is it as sharp and as bright as a standard 22" monitor?

Many thanks!

I have mine set up as a PC monitor and the results are outstanding - I highly recommend this ++++++++++
