Don't forget that the HDMI doesn't yet support 120 Hz so you can't get your 3D through this connector

Very good advice, thanks Mallinersha.

I have an LG very similar to this, and I have to say they are absolutely stunning, especially the brightness, you can work in a sunny room.

Hey! I have that gamer chair!

that site looks dodgy.

never heard of ibood? are they reputable?
#15
Hmmm, tempting for 3d PS3 gaming, but how much are the glasses?

Ah, I see that the HDMI input isn't going to do the job. Never mind...

Do you need a 3d graphics card for this?
If not, what graphic's card would be good enough for 3d blu-ray? not for gaming.
also can the Samsung SH-B123L/BSBP optical drive play back 3d blu-ray?
#18
Is this actually that good a deal? You can't use your consoles on it in 3D and you still need to fork out £60+ just for a pair of glasses, so you're looking at over £200 before you can actually fully use the thing, unless I'm very much mistaken.

Ace deal. I was looking at one of these at eBuyer for £164 last week, although decided against it. At £145, mmmm, verrry tempting, especially when you consider the next cheapest 3D monitor is something like £100 more expensive.

They ship from holland tho and delivery takes longer than usual 7days usually.

So you can't plug a PS3 into this via HDMi and get 3D?

No, but you can use dvi > hdmi plug.

Do NOT buy this if you're planning to try and hook it up to a console for a cheap way to get 3D. It's only compatible with the Nvidia 3D system (PC-only)

Good price but console buyers need to stay clear

From what I remember LG TVs use a different way of creating 3D, so the glasses are a lot cheaper than for Sony sets etc. I think they use similar ones to those in cinemas - dont know if that applies to monitors though.

This is not a 3D monitor in the TV sense.
It's NVIDIA 3D, so dont expect to be able to get it going with Sky, etc.

Monitors that do that should be out soon.

for those looking to hook up a console to a monitor for 3D gaming need to get a monitor with 1.4 HDMI. AFAIK, only Acer have one on the market in the USA, should be here around October, so for now, stay put & wait, the new year will bring some treats Im sure & as M$ have recently signed up with LG for 3D support on 360, I suspect that LG (along with every1 else for that matter) will soon release some 1.4 supported monitors with 120Hz 3D support for all us console gamers whether PS3 or 360

To be honest I don't like the deal for 3D as I have an ATI graphics card (6950 to be specific) and the 3D vision for pc gaming is nvidia hardware specific.

However, I wasn't looking for 3D anyway, I want a 120hz monitor for gaming (mainly FPS) and 120hz over 60hz is a huge difference.

I would buy this if it was a 24", although the price is good so I voted hot.

Btw the only HDMI that supports 3D is 1.4a iif I remember correctly?

Also, here is a link to scan, a higher price but I think it provides a better write up on the specification and some better images.

If you want to play 3D on this you NEED an nVidia 3D Vision kit. It's not just a pair of glasses. You also need to be using an nVidia graphics card. The kit costs around £110 so to go 3D you'll need to add that on top of this price.

Still a great price for what seems to be a great monitor and good if you plan on upgrading it later on with 3D.

can this play ps3/xbox games via HDMI normally in 2D? I have no wish for 3D on my consoles but just as a 2D monitor this seems cheap

Yes it does, and it will play those 2D images at 120hz, which is great when you see it for yourself, hard to explain but when things move fast, they are smoother etc

And for 2D gaming the HDMI will be fine too. Handy if you are using a home theatre receiver, one cable for all

I've got 3 of these monitors in nvidia surround 3d setup for my gaming rig.
They're pretty good monitors for the price, far cheaper than the other 3d monitors.
Very bright and great contrast when your looking straight at the monitor, the viewing angle is pretty narrow, especially the vert viewing angle, you have to have the monitor at eye level.
It says its Vesa compliant, which it is kind of, but i had to open each of my monitors ( not easy! ) to unscrew the necks from the base of the monitor thereby losing the warranty on all the monitors :(
Also it has a audio in and volume controls in the osd, so i assumed it had speakers, but it doesnt! theres no speakers!, i know for sure coz i looked inside!.
But one of the most annoying design flaws is the capacitive buttons on the front of the monitor, as you cannot see them!, even in a fairly well lit room you can barely make out the letters as they're so faint. Also because the buttons are just a capacitve surface, you cant just feel for them either, as its all smooth.
But in all other respects its a great monitor, nvidia 3d vision works great, 3d movies work great with very little cross talk (still using nvidia 3d vision).
Gaming is superb, theres virtually no input lag whatsoever when you have monitors thru mode turned on.
So overall if you want a 3d monitor or even just a 120hz gaming monitor, its still a good choice for under £200.
If however you have more money to spend then the Asus or Benq 3d monitors are better choices, but of course you will be spending a LOT more money.

FFS I literally ordered this monitor 30 minutes ago on another site for £170.
