nice first post mate. Anyone got any feedback on this TV?

Some good feedback at Dabs, here; http://tinyurl.com/yxxy4e
(and a price of £439.99!)

There are people who don't want 32" Tv's and also this TV is an established brand name. Thanks for the post OP, they also have this in Empire Direct for a similar price.

I bought this set four months ago for £426.99 from John Lewis to get the benefit of their 5 year warranty however I got them to price-match against Empire Direct (one of their stores not the internet). If you are considering this set I'd recommend you do that too.

The set is in my son's room and he doesn't use it as a TV at all and just uses it for gaming, DVD and occasionally as a monitor for his laptop. I've been very happy with this, connectivity is very good and picture quality is excellent - at that latest price in Empire Direct of £385.99 it's a bargain especially if you can get JLP to match the price and get the 5 year guarantee as well.

the more important specs:

Contrast: 800:1
Brightness: 500 cd/m2
Response Time: 8 ms

sorry i spoke!

I got this TV a couple of weeks ago for £400 from richer sound. Very pleased. So far everything is great, and it seems a good quality item. Nothing about it seems cheap.

well i've got a panasonic 42" plasma, 10,000:1 contrast and a lot clearer than an lcd!

Was looking at this tv today in Comet and i was very impressed... looks very nice in the flesh. A little bit deeper by 30mm than the other tv i was looking at (Philips 26PF7521D), but for the price i can live with that for £160 difference. Billymac, just wondering how if i walked into a JL store they would price match with empire stores if there are none within 100miles ? Do i need to get a printed quote or will JL give them a ring and confirm price ?

I've pricematched two TV's with JLP (the other was a Panasonic 42" Plasma and the picture quality on the LG is pretty close) and have found it best to do by phone.

Find your nearest Empire Direct shop and phone them to check the price and availability - needs to be in stock. Then phone your local John Lewis store up and ask for their undersales department which deal with price-match requests. Give them the ED store details and the price, etc. and they should then check it out and come back to you - don't know how John Lewis do that.

Regarding distance, I contacted John Lewis in Edinburgh and got them to price match with an ED store in England so distance shouldn't be an issue unless they have changed their policy in the last month. My Panasonic Plasma was matched against a store in London!

The only potential sticking point is delivery as they would usually add in however much it would cost to get the TV delivered from ED to your home - I got round that by collecting the TV from my local John Lewis distribution centre. Once we had agreed they would match the price I just ordered it over the phone and they sent the receipt out in the post. Well worth the extra effort for a five year warranty.

Hope this helps.

Many thanx ;-)

mrhaddock

Mr Haddock it may be preferable to compare like for like. Would you compare a Porsche to a Hyundai for instance?

I have the same TV and use this one to mount it in my son's room http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/partDetail.jsp?SKU=ST01046. It's just a wee bit tight for the SCART cables but does the job fine and was a reasonable price.
#16
Thanks billymac for your link. Shouldn't be a problem about the scart just using a coax in for tv only. Nice one

Thanks - been looking for a decent 26" tv for the bedroom for a few weeks (since I missed the Hannsg ones at misco). This is a bit more, but a decent brand with good specs, so ordered :)
#18
Thanks, just ordered.

Hope it's a good tv!
#19

Price gone up.
#23
Thanks for the pointer bcbjork and Welcome to HotUKDeals too :)

It has gone up to about £410 but might drop in price again fast. Amazon have a habit of doing that ;-)
#24
It's now back down to £385.99 now, 1-2 weeks dispatch though.

I guess this is no longer expired. :p
#25
Thanks for the price update Chanser :)

Gone up now to £409.99, guess I got my order in time. :giggle:
