This can be usb hacked to play off external hard drives and usb drives. I have a 42" one bought few months ago, definitely recommended.
#6
Yeah but the trade off is you invalidate the warranty. Not sure I'd want to do that on a brand new tv, but I sure am tempted.

Has anyone got a money off voucher code for Dixons at all? It seems the hotukdeals one expired about 3 days ago. :(

what is the usb for?

Officially? Just for upgrading the tv's firmware by a service technician.
Unofficially? Enabling video/picture playback.

And it'll be great for a pc monitor... if you sit back a bit from it.

standard 12 month warranty from Dixons online.
none of the DSGi sites advertise their coverplan or Whatever Happens policies anymore.

which makes selling them instore a damn site harder!

Price hasn't gone up.
Offer doesn't start until 8am on Monday 10th May for 48 hours.
Good deal for a good telly.
Not seen this cheaper.

12 months warranty thank you:)

I have this TV, and it's superb. Picture quality is much better than my previous Samsung.

For anyone that is interested - this TV also comes with a 2 year warranty. When I opened the box, the TV had a sticker on it saying "Call now to register your FREE warranty". Naturally, they try to sell you an extended warranty (£109 for 5 years incl. accidental damage, etc...) but if you choose not to take it you are still registered for the basic 2 year warranty and you get a letter confirming this.

No, its not 100hz. I have the 42inch version and you certainly won't be disappointed with any games consoles playing on this tv.

The LGLH3000 models were about the best value for money even at the time they came out. Lots of features and the picture is 10x better than any other LCD or plasmas that I have seen set-up. Even better at these prices too!

Just another part of the massive sell-off of non-Freeview HD tellys.

I genuinely believe, and I know others will disagree, that tellys with 'only' SD Freeview will be regarded as very poor relations to their HD Freeview counterparts within a year or so.

My new Samsung 37" HD Freeview telly is soooooo good on BBD HD, ITV HD and CH4 HD that even Mrs Lagerhound thinks it's the greatest £600 we've ever spent.

Once again, I know that lots of people can't receive Freeview HD yet, and than you can buy a set top box to do the job, but to those thinking of purchasing this, or any other new TV, you should seriously consider whether you should wait a bit, or spend more and get the HD tuner capability.
#27
Do you reckon tv prices will go down after the world cup though....?

What's wrong with buying this and then plugging an hd freeview box thru an hdmi???:whistling:

So glad I never bought this today, went to curry's to look at it fo r£329. Went home to think about it, saw it with an xbox360 attatched and it looked great, but the other display one the picture looked a bit dark compaired to the rest!!
Maybe just a different picture setup. I'll defo be ordering it tomorrow at 8am sharp!!!

You're comparing apples with pears though - you need to spend a lot more than £299 to get a HD Freeview tv, and anyone with SKY HD, etc... won't even need it. For those that aren't bothered about Freeview HD or have alternatives this is a great deal. Those that do want Freeview HD wouldn't be considering this tv so your comments are largely irrelevant.

fair points: no point in getting this if you want terrestrial freeview hd. but if you want hd thru other platforms (and they offer more hd channels) then this is an example of a great bargain.

The amount of free HD channels is very few and the programmes that run on some of the channels is even less. We have skyHD and probably only watch 5% of what is on TV actually in HD. If you are basing your purchase on watching channles in HD, you most likely hav a skyHD or VirginHD box anyway. I think lots of people will be disappointed with what freeviewHD actually offers anyway. All HD packages are overrated in my opinion. It looks brilliant but until ALL channels are in HD the majority of what you will watch will still be in SD. And this tv shows SD programming better that any other tv's I have seen.

The Freeview HD thing is definitely going to lead to quite a few bargains in the coming months. I believe Freeview HD set tops will be dirt cheap in the future, but who wants a separate control when the telly already has freeview. It's not ideal really.

I am looking for a 26 or 32 now. I don't really want to pay as much as 600 for a HD one, and 26 inch sets don't look like they'll be getting HD for a while.
#34
Gona put this in the dinning room and connect it to the sky magic eye connection. Anyone know where to get about 10 meters of ariel cable from my skybox to the new tv while attatched to magic eye??

Warning, don't know if this is true, from Amazon's reviews, but its worrying if true:

"from about Oct 2009, LG have repleaced there panels. NOTE: tech stuff coming up...LG used to put IPS panels in these screens, hence all the good reviews, and that's what i thought. but shortly after ordering it i found out that LG have repleaced the panels in here to AUO witch are NOT as good as IPS. AUO panels have motion blur and inout lag, not good for gaming, IPS are the best for gaming. i was worried after seeing these posts, theres alot in a US based forum. So when i got it i straight away looked for motion blur, and i found it. Some of you may not be able to spot this but i am a really fussy person when it comes to TV's and if i'm paying good money for something i expect it to perform its needed functions. the motion blur goes away, (not completly) after an hour or so after it has been warmed up. Second reason it because the optical input on this set has sync issues. i connected it to my sony surround to the tv and the sound comes after the picture, connected to ps3 to surround and it was fine. tryed all kind's of settings to get it to sync together but couldn't find a solotion.
So i has really high hopes for this LG set, but it seems they have cut back and made a good TV worse by using a cheap panel. And i don't know what was up with the optical. One thing that is good about this TV is the freeview, really good picture quality, no pixalation, prob the best iv'e ever seen but the sound and panel issue tops that.
If your looking for a TV, wait for the 2010 range by panasonic or sony. They will be released in March and April, order of here of course, amazon service is great :)"

Some might claim this is overkill, but better than the basic cable you would get for pennies.

i'd think about getting a 32 if you want to watch full hd on it. the benefits of full hd (on most tvs) become apparent, under normal viewing, at 37 and above. try it out first if you can.

i have sky in the front room is there anyway of having it in bedroom too without resorting to sky multiroom?
