Good find. I was thinking of going to Currys tomorrow to pick this up. I'll have to change my destination now. Any chance I can use your discount, scruffty?;-)
#8
I wish I could - run by a company called Asperity http://www.asperity.co.uk - like quidco but some better benefits...

get currys to price promise and get it the same price plus 10% of the difference
#10
Would they price promise on a voucher though?
#11
they won't price promise a web voucher but the 3000 is 399 at Currys (I think)

might work.
they usually ring comet to ask about stock and price.

worth a shot, if they say no, walk.

it'll be money in their till not the competitions. Keith Jones said we had to 'Win Every Customer'

Yes but that's the point, is it a deal as there are other 1080p sets cheaper. I don't want to vote cold just on the price so looking for what makes this a deal.
#17
it seems so be one of the best reviewed "cheap" 1080p panels by people that know loads more than me :-D
#18
I've been looking for a TV and this seems to come up on a lot of websites as a good undet £350 Telly
So I've ordered it , will let you know if the Tech types were right !
Got lots of good reviews
#19
can anyone coment on the time it takes to change from one chanel to another... have asammy and its is Very S l o w!
#20
Has anyone ordered one? Out of stock everywhere. Tried earlier too!

Sorry forgot to add. Got one of these a few months ago. Updating the firware seems to make channel switching a bit quicker but it still is not fast.

Don't forget you enable the USB port on these to turn it into a full media player. This makes it a much better buy than other brands at this price.
When done it will even play full 1080p mkv files ( as well as divx , xvid and lots more including your usual photos and mp3's). It saves you spending £70+ on a high definition media player like the popular western digital model.

wow - top tip simes! Have some rep :-D

Looks like a very good deal as the reviews for this model seem very positive.
I have no interest in Technika and other mickey mouse brands, this LG unit seems to have a strong following from those that have bought it.
Wanted a Panasonic but might pop for this at this price!
#26
Yes have one here with USB enabled.
Depending on the firmware version it is quite simple. Google the av forum. On the original firmware there were still a few files it could not play. On the latest one have not come across anything it won't play.
Any problems drop me a line.
PC World seems to have loads stacked when I went on Sunday to Fulham and they even seemed to be making a big effort with customer service.
The only problem is that the store is huge and these look tiny compared with the 37 and 42, 50+ etc

When we got back indoors my daughter didnt believe it was the same model which I have in my living room. Was considering tthe LG 37LH5000 or the 42LH5000 but these are nearly double the price - so easy to get carried away..

Unfortunately, looks like this is sold out across most of the South East.

Managed to find ones in stock for reserve and collect in remote parts of the country though - but petrol money to get there and back negates the £16.50 saving.

Boo :(

Details on enabling the media player
http://lgusb.wikispaces.com/

The hack even works on the cheaper LH2000 series ( just did it today on a 32" ). Just read the guide .
Make sure your TV does not have one of the 2 firmware versions that don't allow you to downgrade and hack - if it does you have to use the remote control method .Don't mess with any other settings in the service menu other than the two settings to enable the media player.
#29
i reserved one for collection using the suggested code, price £313.49
this may be a dumb question but is it possible to get a Quidco 4% cash back too?
if so should i reserve another and go via Quidco?
#30
Is there any way of finding out whether or not they will have any in stock soon, as none of the stores near me have any.

I think the only way would be to ring your local store and ask, but I doubt they'd know when more stock was coming in.
#33
Got my mate, who works in Currys, to get me one of these today. Got it home and set it up, only to find a lot of dead pixels on the screen. Taking it back tomorrow, hopefully they'll still have it in stock to replace it. On the plus side, the picture quality was excellent and the sound is really good too. It looked really good when I hooked my Xbox 360 up to it. Hope nobody else has any problems if they buy one.
#34
Will this be a good TV for the Xbox? Does it matter that its 50mhz?
