I think 1080p helps on a 42, but you don't need it. If someone wants a cheap 42, this will do. Will still look good in 720p for games or movies. You can pay more and get 1080p, but some people might think its worth the savings.

Anyone know where any of these bargain crazy tv's are to look at in person?

Don't be silly.

Some of the best Plasma's are 720p.

Last year's massive selling TH42PX80 for example.......

Unfortunatly, my samsung has died a death today, came on to look what deals are about, everyone has recommended the LG's. This one is fab, ordered.

http://www.burnyourbonus.info/hdtv-faq/faq3.html

At the British average of 9 foot viewing distance, with 20/20 eyesight your eyes can't resolve 1080 lines on a 42".

If you have better eyesight than that, or sit closer, then it's worth it.

Good deal imo

Out of those two I'd go for the Samsung, but I'd still choose this LG Plasma over both of them.

my samsung died today, from what i make out, it is a regular fault with them it is only 2 years old, and was going to cost £280 to repair so for me it was a no brainer to order this tv. from everything ive read review etc the LG is fab - i would not by another samsung.
#22
Hi JO7858

Regarding your samsung can you tell me if its plasma or Lcd please and model number ?
I purchased Samsung LCD nearly 2 years ago and am worried now , Lol

Tempted to order, but after what happened to CDiscount and them going to liquidation while my order was being delayed I'm a bit wary..
#25

If only it were 2 weeks later and pay day. I'd have one in a shot. Paid this price for a 26"lcd 2 years ago. Hot, bargain.
No 1080p? Who cares unless you have bluray.

PG is a 2008 model - PQ is a 2009 model.

This is still a very good Plasma TV and was certainly a step up in quality, features and looks from LG's previous efforts.;-)

sorry sorry - can someone please tell me why I should buy a plasma and not a LCD?? This confuses me so much. I am about to buy my son a tv for christmas - was actually going to John Lewis to buy http://www.johnlewis.com/230562551/Product.aspx as they are price matching it to £319 - but I would def pay the extra for this model

He will be using his tv mainly for his Xbox

PLASMA OR LCD?????
#34
can someone tell me - preferably someone who owns a plasma - how prone are these plasma babys to screen burn

why the price is given after cashback ? i thought its not allowed coz you cant be 100% sure that they gonna trace the transaction...

real price is 399 + 19.95 for delivery = 419.94 - which isnt so great anymore for hd ready plasma (plasma dies a lot faster than lcd)

cold from me...

Thanks rudy - I hadnt noticed that:thumbsup: Think I am just going to stick to the John Lewis samsung tv as that 5 year warranty makes all the difference

ps have some rep from me

he's wrong, cashback is only 3%...the price of 367 is after the 13% off voucher at the bottom!;-)
#39
just a word of warning folks - i have got a 42 PQ3000 from these guys -was faulty with hazy vertical bars on every input source - have had to return it - I would be wary unless you're positive and you can confirm it's new - mine was a refurb - I was unlucky or unwise - probably a bit of both i guess
