My bad, I thought though that some channels -especially BBC had been pulled up recently for quality/resolution etc of their HD broadcasts?
people can call you a muppet all they like, i'm with you mate.
this TV has literally the bare minimum resolution requirement to be called HD-ready, and the picture will be less defined than it would be on a 720p TV.
if that's good enough for you then OK, but it's not good enough for me, or the poster i am replying to.
i go in and they offer me some battered in demo unit (returned repaired in real life)
and i mean battered

Feel your pain mate - they ****ed me up good and proper making me drive miles to pick up a monitor that didn't exist except in their bullsh*t spiel on the phone.
I am not a particular fan of multi-national companies but Richer Sounds give smaller chains a bad name.
BBC HD has lowered the bitrate but not the resolution - in other words, it's more compressed and looks worse. Still 1080 line though.
Not suprised they want to clear the 720p now that 3D is coming.
hahahahahaha made my day....
Most tv channels don't even transmit true 1080p, and now people are saying 3d is coming... exactly! hahahaha

Ever heard of a Blu-ray player? 3D is coming, you obviously still own a CRT.
Yes, no harm in being future proof
1080P does make a diffrence dude, no matter what people say.
+ 1 finally someone who recognises the benifits of 1080p :)
Me, and yes its an excellent TV. I did a lot of research before buying, as well as looking at side by sides instore. It came down to this and a Panny P42X10.... all signs pointed towards this being the better TV. Its not going to beat the higher-end TVs, but then they cost up to twice as much.
And most people I know can barely tell the difference between 720p and 1080p, if at all. I wouldn't bother on anything under 40", and even above that I'd go for the quality of the TV ahead of the resolution. Just as in cameras where megapixels don't mean everything, neither does Full HD in TVs. You'll find 720p plasmas that look a whole lot better than some 1080p LCDs. Get a good quality TV first, and then worry about paying extra for Full HD (because you will pay a premium for the "privilege").
Funny that some people believe that a 1080p telly will be able to do 3D.....

They will be able to do 1080p dude, PS3 is getting a firmware update to enable 3D support. Also 1080p 3D projectors= will be out soon.

You need a 3D enabled TV though for Sky 3D you plonker
ps - wouldnt buy this TV either, unless its for the bedroom/2nd room.
In all fairness though, if your just using this TV for Sky HD, it will be perfect, as the HD channels are only broadcast in 720p - only Bluray/HD DVD/HD media centers will show "true" 1080p.
Even most Xbox games are only 720p
