its actually £39 more expensive than a price match request and doesn't come with a free 5 year warranty

Bought this for £329 in Richer sounds on Boxing day. I don't think I can get the £30 difference now. Can I?

I rang Richer sounds just now and quoted this and the customer service assistant quotes the "5 Year gurantee" costs £39.99 from RGBdirect and so still cheaper.

I will wait for John Lewis to update the price online. If you try and get any good, let me know please.

Just received this response from John Lewis:

"Thank you for your price match request for the LG42LB580V television, stock code 82435021

I have looked into your request and will be happy to match the price of £324.94 for the LG42LB580V television, stock code 82435021 seen at RGB Direct. This company does have a delivery charge of £14.95, which is added in to the price match."

Well, I think it is a stupid email from John Lewis, as the RGB website says "Free Delivery Available". I think the correct deal price should be listed here as £309.99

Thank you for your enquiry about the LG 42LB580V.

After investigation, I can see the LG 42LB580V advertised on the RGBdirect.co.uk has an online price of £309.99, and it is the In store price that is £299.99.

I would be happy to match the online price under our Never Knowingly Undersold Policy, However if you wish to price match the store price of £299.99 then please feel free to call your local John Lewis store to make a price match enquiry.
---------------------------------
JL told me it was £309.99 with delivery but £299.99 if you do in-store collection

Once again, John Lewis demonstrate that they are an inconsistent shocking mess

It was late last night, just after the deal was put-up......I've replied to that response from John Lewis to point-out they're talking nonesense as RGB say "Free Delivery Available" of their product webpage.

I wasn't so lucky - see below. What should I do now?!

"In order to match a price request, the competitor must trade on the same basis as us, for example we will not match online only retailers, mail order only or show-rooms attached to internet-only orders.
This retailer that you have requested your price match with is a show room only store.
Therefore, on this occasion I regret that I cannot match the price offered by RBG direct. If you would like to view more information about Never Knowingly Undersold and our pricing you can do so on our website.
I am sorry I have not been able to reduce the price on this occasion."

LOL - I had to make 3 separate requests before I got the match. The first 2 from the first customer rep both wanted to apply a delivery cost on top. The 3rd request was dealt with by someone else!

Jusr shows how inept and inconsistent the service is!

Avoid John Lewis - they cancelled my order after 4 working days, apologized with no solid reason given, asked me re-order then cancelled it AGAIN with no reason given !

In that case then I would escalate it beyond customer services.

The 550V is not a smart tv.

Does anybody know, if my price match claim is accepted how long it would be valid for?

Just follow the OP's link to the never knowingly undersold form and fill it out, it is pretty self-explanatory :)

just went through the price match hope they dont add 24.99 postage on or i may nip to Aberdeen to pick one up in store. Can price matching be done instore on the day if I pulled up the rgb website and showed them the price?

Once you get the offer, the email says valid for 28 days.

You have to pay full price, wait for delivery then confirm (a) you've bought it and (b) you are happy with it prior to the refund to your card......so you probably should build-in some time for that within the 28 days to be on the safe-side.
