I bought this on DOD and the standard deff on this is so bad the motion is very blurry.
But for 1080p blu-ray its amazing.

I will be selling mine one the awsome xmas sales comes up, as sony have already started offering 17.5% off all tv's

I bought the previous model of this tv last year (42LH3000) which I believe is near enough identical to the 42LD450 and only use mine on standard def. I find the picture to be excellent, honestly on a par with the best I have seen from any 42" LCD TV (never experienced any motion blur at all) and I am surprised at Canada16's comments above - I wonder if your set could be faulty? Heat added.

After reading the excellent reviews on Amazon and the great price, I've just ordered one. I can't wait for it to arrive, so that I can get rid of my massive box shaped TV.

Can you use the USB on this one for watching films etc?
#8
No, USB can't be used for watching films. Photos only.
#9
do you know of any similar spec/price to this that does?

Thx in advance

This deal was on in Summer too and got about 600 heat. This is very HOT and a brilliant deal. Doubt this price will stay and it's a fantastic TV so don't ooohhh and ahhhh like I did before and miss out :(
#12
Does anyone know what kind of warranty/guarantee this comes with, I can't see?

Thanks.

I had it for 2 weeks... (paid for it £369.07 at the end of August, from Amazon) returned

Lovely TV, very nice and clear menu, easy to set up with ton of options.. easily hackable (done that in 5 minutes using my nokia n73) so that you can watch movies via usb (mkv, wmv, avi or whatever)

Only problem was quite bad inverse ghosting.. very noticeable especially while watching movies via usb.. dont know why... strange thing.. coz i could not notice it at all while watching normal tv channels or playing xbox 360 games...

as i said.. returned it after 2 weeks and bought Samsung LE40C530

Menu and options were much better on LG, but picture on Samsung seem to be better so far.

easiest option is to get a Technika 4 in 1 Remote TK41R from tesco, it does not play dts though so you will have to convert,

dts conversion guide here:

Enabling video play back hack:

I agree with JohnnyAce, LG = Lousy Goods :)

They will dissapear till that time...
Now they are pushing out 42LD490.. which is same tv but with Freeview HD tuner and usb movie playback enabled by default (so you dont have to hack it).

Sony's VAT back deal might bring up some treats.

LG make some very good and some very bad TVs, its not as simple a question as LG=good or LG=bad.

I have a 42LG5500 and its very good, however I also have some friends who have bought low end LGs which are terrible. My father has a very low end LG plasma and it looks horrible.

A friend of mine bought this a few days ago, I only got to see if briefly but it looked pretty decent. Sure there are better tvs on the market but for this money I don't think there are.

With Quidco that brings it to £365, which is very tempting indeed. :)

Lousy opinion (but you are entitled to it I suppose).

I've found LG kit to be top knotch over the last few years. My 42LH4000 was excellent value for money, so recommended LG TV's to the rest of the family and so far everyone has been more than pleased.
And yes, I went to a few good A/V stores to compare TV's etc (by a few, I mean I traipsed up and down Tottenham court road for a couple of days trying to decide what to buy) . Yes, you can get better TV's, but you'll have to spend a fair bit more to get the same feature set with better picture quality).

It may have helped if the LE40C530 was actually £389. It's showing as £399 and not in stock...
So not only is it more expensive (while being 2" smaller), but you can't actually buy one at the moment :) .
