I bought this when it was £369 in the summer. It's a basic-ish TV but with a great picture and perfectly adequate sound. If I was buying one now and didn't use Sky, I would get one with Freeview HD as they are only about £90 more now.

i bought this tv on boxing day, great tv for the money. usb hack works but does not like every hd mp4 files sometimes the video is out of sync with the audio I was rocking Inception the other night and was loving it when it just stops after 2.03 minutes. Does anyone else have this problem, Is there a firmware upgrade fix for this, or is it just me as I cant find anything in any forum about this USB playback bug. Apart from this great tv my PS3 looks awesome voted hot.

Not bad! Have some heat :)

Just bought this from Dixons online with the 5% code, DIXON5 brings it to £375.23, then a possible 4% quidco cashback brings it to £360.22.
#16
It's played everything I've tried. After about 40 mins I sometimes get a lip sync delay. Stopping and restarting rectifies the problem.

I got this tv. Came yesterday. Sorry to drag up such an old thread. But for some this could be useful. Taken from AV Forums: the hack to get movies playing via USB using a oneforall remote...

OK .. Try this ..

TV needs to be turned on ..

1. Press and hold down the MAGIC key on the 8206
(for about 3 seconds) until the rabbit comes
out of the hat (the screen will change to the setup screen)

2. Press the DEV SET key

3. Press and release the TV key to select the device type you like
to setup.

4. Enter 0178 using the number keys. The animated IR Indicator
will blink twice.

5. Now, aim your 8206 at your TV and try the
following keys to test if its working ..

+ or - .. that should be channel up/down ..

6. If your device is responding You can ESC/ESC out of here.

Now we need to program an extra button to open the 'Service Menu'

1. Press and hold down the MAGIC key on the 8206
(for about 3 seconds) until the rabbit comes
out of the hat (the screen will change to the setup screen)

2. Press the KEYMAGIC key

3. Press and release the TV key again.

4. Press the MAGIC (Top Hat!) key once.

5. Enter 00018.

6. Press a key you want to use for this command ..
I used the 'Red' button on the bottom
The IR Indicator will blink twice and the screen will return
to the Setup screen. Press ESC to exit from here.

That's it! .. now press your programmed button and you should see a
pop-up on the TV asking for a password .. mine was 0413.

Now in the service menu go down to 'Tool Option3' ..
from here to 'Divx' and change the 0 to a 1 .. exit out of here
and you should be done.

You probably don't need to use the first part above (replacing the whole remote!)
but I find it handy sometimes.

Hope that helps!

Hi.

It not the one I used: mine was the kameleon 8204.

I believe ANY oneforall remote with a magic key will be suitable tho.

It can also be done with some other remotes OR certain mobile phone
#27
thanks alot, if its no bother, can i get a link to the forum for more info? cheers
#30
thanks Mr Who, those shud have all the info i need, much appreciated. Next week is 'Project USB Hack' :)
#31
Does this tv have a gloss or matte finish on the screen??
#32
Matt to reduce reflection.
#33
I wish this was 100Hz :(
#34
Possibly worth mentioning that LG, in their infinite wisdom, have used 2 different types of panel in these TVs. The S-IPS is widely regarded to be the superior panel - denoted by the presence of a letter W somewhere in the serial number.
#35
i bought a oneforall remote for £20 which did the trick. @ who has my name I have been playing usb files from a Western Digital hard drive but will try it through a 8GB memory stick, if you forward through a usb playback file in hd mp4 and play again it loses sound, I am beginning to wonder if it is my tv
#36
You may be on a different software version (maybes) mine seems fine.

For reference my HDD is a 320gb western digital passport.
#37
I bought this from Asda the other day and was very disappointed. Rather fuzzy picture and not too steady stand, its going back. My old Samsung is a much better picture. So im now looking for a better one at a reasonable price - any ideas??
#38
thanks for the feedback

And this...

[url=http://openlgtv.org.ru/wiki/index.php/IR_Hack/url]

i followed the guide in the link above, using my housemate's Nokia E71 and in less than 2minutes, i've hacked my LG's USB Port. I've got the Movie list on my baby (LG 42LD450) now :)

Thanks a bunch Mr Who, im on cloud 9 right now lol

This is currently £349 from PRC Direct http://www.prcdirect.co.uk/televisions/lcd-televisions/37-inch-lcd-televisions/productlist - possibly worth the extra £26 for the comfort of buying from Amazon..
