Richer Sounds have moved to pretty much equal amazon/dixons on the purchase price of this TV, BUT there is money to be saved with their amazingly priced 5 year warranty; £373.94 all in.

TV INFO:
The LG 42LD450 gives you a top quality, 42 inch 1080p, screen at a remarkable price.

With its 1080p Full HD resolution, the 42LD450 is the perfect TV to complement your HD sources such as PS3, Blu-ray player and Sky HD. LG have already built an excellent reputation for their picture and, with the 42LD450, it's not hard to see why. A contrast ratio of 60, 000:1 hints at the deep blacks and realism of depth. What the figures can't tell you is just how natural the picture is against similarly priced rivals. There's also smooth motion with a super-fast response time of just 4ms and a wide viewing angle to ensure that everyone in the room gets a good view of the action. In short, whatever you're watching will be crisp and detailed with superb resolution and the ideal brightness.

As usual, we would always recommend using a separate home cinema system with a TV of this size but if you do use the LG's built-in sound system you might be pleasantly surprised. Using an invisible speaker system with Clear Voice II the 42LD450 sounds crisp and precise. Furthermore, the 10w + 10w power output gives it enough drive to fill larger rooms, too.

In terms of connections, the 42LD450 has all the basics covered and a very useful USB, to boot. Twin HDMI sockets allow for the connection of 2 High Definition sources, such as an HD-TV box and Blu-ray. In addition to this, the 42LD450 boasts SCART and component connections for your analogue sources. The side-mounted USB socket is extremely useful for plugging in digital media devices and playing back music and pictures on your TV. Furthermore, the PC input makes this attractive TV the perfect complement to your home computer. Topping off the wide range of sockets is a digital optical sound output - ideal for connecting this LG 42 inch LCD TV to your home cinema for a useful upgrade in sound quality.

Featuring a gloss black, slimline surround and elegant stand, the 42LD450 looks as good as it performs. It's also less deep than many rivals making it look considerably less bulky whether wall or stand mounted. Thanks to the latest technology, it's also Energy Saving Recommended. For a 42 inch 1080p LCD TV with an impressive spec and smooth, good looks, the 42LD450 is hard to beat.

I paid £393 for this last Thursday with the 5 yr warranty @ RS in Newcastle; just rang them and they said that if I go down with my receipt within 7 days of purchase, they'll give me the difference back- can't say fairer than that!

After about 2 years of watching TV deals I went for this from dixons for 338 the other day. Awaiting delivery tomorrow, At around £300-£350 its worth it for a year or two at least.

It plays files via USB too so should be a good piece of kit.

only pics and music, you need to get a one for all remote to access factory menu to enable Video playback... I got this for £337 from amazon a couple of weeks ago and did it then. Works great for movies now..... Got some cool features too like 1 button to skip 5 mins at a time during movies...

Richersounds are great to deal with.
Bought my Uncle a TV Today with their extended warranty.
it was a 5 year warranty for only £39.
Asked the nice folks at Currys and was quoted £150 for the same TV!!
Comet had a similar TV and still quoted £150!!

This is instructions for a one for all.. I used a URC-8206 that I managed to get off ebay for £3.99 delivered (99p bid and £3 postage, sold it on amazon for £35, result)

TV needs to be turned on ..

1. Press and hold down the MAGIC key on the 8206
(for about 3 seconds) until the rabbit comes
out of the hat (the screen will change to the setup screen)

2. Press the DEV SET key

3. Press and release the TV key to select the device type you like
to setup.

4. Enter 0178 using the number keys. The animated IR Indicator
will blink twice.

5. Now, aim your 8206 at your TV and try the
following keys to test if its working ..

+ or - .. that should be channel up/down ..

6. If your device is responding You can ESC/ESC out of here.

Now we need to program an extra button to open the 'Service Menu'

1. Press and hold down the MAGIC key on the 8206
(for about 3 seconds) until the rabbit comes
out of the hat (the screen will change to the setup screen)

2. Press the KEYMAGIC key

3. Press and release the TV key again.

4. Press the MAGIC (Top Hat!) key once.

5. Enter 00018.

6. Press a key you want to use for this command ..
I used the 'Red' button on the bottom
The IR Indicator will blink twice and the screen will return
to the Setup screen. Press ESC to exit from here.

That's it! .. now press your programmed button and you should see a
pop-up on the TV asking for a password .. mine was 0413.

Now in the service menu go down to 'Tool Option3' ..
from here to 'Divx' and change the 0 to a 1 .. exit out of here
and you should be done.

You probably don't need to use the first part above (replacing the whole remote!)
but I find it handy sometimes.

Hope that helps!

The avsforum link also has instructions to get video to work via usb with a harmony remote control which I have at home so that seems interesting for me.

Got mine today and the picture on IPS panel is so much better. Viewing angles are almost as good as my plasma. Backlight is alot more uniformed than my last unit. Used my harmony remote to enable Divx playback. So glad i went ot the trouble of getting the right panel. also went for the 5 year warranty for £34. Now just awaiting my skyhd box...

Cool, am sooo tempted still, probably won't be able to get anything better for the price so will go for it....

Sounds like a good deal.

Generally disappointed by Richer Sounds though. You used to get amazing deals in store on last year's kit, but on a recent visit to the Reading store I found that they only had current kit and the prices were comparable to most high street stores.
