Seems like an amazing price - much cheaper than elsewhere! Free delivery!

Reviews are brilliant - a very useful feature to note is the ability to play back divx files via usb - half kicking myself for buying the bargain 42LD450 (without freeview HD and Internet) that was on here a few weeks back!)

Specs: http://www.lg.com/uk/tv-audio-video/televisions/LG-lcd-tv-42LD490.jsp

This tv is 50hz and uses 134Watts which is about average for 2010 LCD tv's.

Richersounds will pricebeat by £10 to make it £388.99, you may be able to get a 5yr warranty for 10% extra ontop of that or 10% more than £400 so £440. You might be able to get £10 off instore by printing out this £10 VIP voucher after registering: http://www.richersounds.com/viplogin

So possibly £430 or lower with a 5yr warranty.

This tv can play Divx .avi, x264 .mkv btw.

He said freeview HD.

This TV is good but not amazing, my sister has one in her room. LG teles are fine but they just seem a bit cheap, the quality is more than enough mind. The internet tv is pointless though. Hot at this price.

LG Netcast is crap, you either got to spend another 40 quid on a dongle or homeplugs or have a wire going through your house just to get IPlayer basically as thats the only useful "app" on netcast. The other features are pointless, e.g. facebook, accuweather. Id rather load up my phone and find those small things out instantly. IPlayers fine but that is hardly groundbreaking, if you want this tv you probably already have a device that will be able to get IPlayer that you plan on connecting anyway that is more reliable and wont cost extra $, if the dongle was free it would be fine but you got to pay even more just to pick up IPlayer basically.
#14
Surely youtube on the TV is pretty useful?

I think that's worth a bit of cable
#15
It's got built in WI-FI?

Just.. have a wireless router? :s?

Which reviews are those ?? Can't find any

I have this tv its great i have a second router in the front room and then from that a network cable to the tv one to my 360 and one to my ps3 ( i forget what they call the second router when its just used to extend the first one in your house but its a lot less money than a dongle and also as i have put here you can have more than one itme on it ) its a nice tv for the price it has some stuff on the netcast you may not use but there is some that are good as well , also to play hd content via the network or on a usb stick to the tv is great

great tv for the price

Remember the VAT increase, plus do post-Christmas sales really exist anymore?

Netcast is also avaliable on most lg branded bluray players. The cheapest one I could find is £99.

Its not to bad, ignore the crappy youtube quality of most videos though. Its fine for music but doesent this TV have DLNA? that is a better substitute. Pretty pointless though when you have a remote control to do it all, much easier going on a laptop but if you were desperate to get youtube on a big screen tv then fair enough.

I have told you my sister has it, I have used these apps. Put the fact that they are pointless and if you need to go on face-book on a TV aside (which is only my opinion) they just do not work well, clumsy to use if you get me and who does not have a computer, laptop, phone etc to do that on on a much easier to use device.

Got this from Currys when it was £395 with the voucher.

Great TV, Netcast is quite good, the TV is next to my router so wasn't a problem hooking it up for me.

Netcast is limited at the moment, but how long before 4oD, ITV player, etc are supported? I'm guessing not too long. It's worth it for iplayer alone, as you can notch that up to HD and it's great.

TV is great, picture superb, got it hooked up to my PC and blu-ray. Toy Story and Avatar look immense.

I imagine you won't get this much cheaper, even in January/whenever, VAT going up etc. Go for it if you're considering, and go and have a look in Currys (where it's £500 odd) and see what you think if unsure.

Schutz, Schutz, Schutz, you're leaving out the most important thing....What's the picture quality like - on Freeview SD etc, etc.

I booked the 450 on Best Buy this morning for the same price but with 14.89% cashback on Topcashback. OK, it is on the non VAT amount but it still represents £50 off, bringing it down to £350 or so. I can also cancel before delivery for 100% refund.

I bought it as I'm after either a 50PK990 but not at £750/800 or a 50PK590 like the offer yesterday. If that doesn't come around and this is still there on Monday, I might be tempted to switch to this model or any of the others which will surely hit the net this weekend.

Buy at Best Buy with a forward delivery date and you lock in a deal. If something better comes along, simply cancel and switch.

i'd still go with amazon as their customer service is 2nd to none (imo)

Richer sounds have this and they also do a price match. I wonder if they would too also honour their £10 print off voucher for joining their VIP club? Just a thought ;-)

Also, Freeview HD or not is meaningless if you have Sky, as surely most people do, even if you can get the damn thing. Thus no value.

Internet TV ? sure, the future of things without a doubt but at the moment, little or nothing there.

Using your PC, my research seems to indicate what you actually need is a new graphics card for the PC with an HDMI slot and that is job done. I want internet TV which I currently get on the PC on the telly. There does not appear a way to control this from any TV, internet or not but I hope someone can etll me that is not true and give me an explanation of how it can be done and what I need.

I have to agree, though the only complaints I've had are things coming late and a non arrival, both of which they sorted out without a quibble.

That said, BB on the phone are superb. Stock levels, when next deliveries are, number of units, no premium number and easy to see it (try to find an Amazon number by comparison - you'll have to dig into level 27.5 of their website because they don't want you to call).

Tough call to switch but I have a call option on the 450 until at least Monday.

Please let me inside your head for a moment, I am totally perplexed by people who say "I don't want a wire running through my house" when referring to networking for your TV.

Sorry how are you getting TV? Unless you have an aerial on top of your TV you already have a wire running through your house. Virgin/Sky/Freeview/Freesat all have to have a wire running from somewhere to your TV, how is an ethernet cable any different?
#36
Suppose its ok as a secondry tv considering its not even 100hz? :)
#37
Very good price for a known brand 42" tv. Plus it has 3HDMI . Full HD and internet features.

You will be able to find a 42" for £350-£400 in a deal but not a known brand with these features.

Just bought one for parents!
suspended#38
shame its only 50hz.

To those people thinking youtube and facebook will be great, have you tried it before? As its not quick or easy to use with a remote control, its quite a gimmick. Also i don't think any tv's support youtube in HD so videos will look poor. I think they are usually 360p on youtube, i believe its that res on my LG BD560 bluray player.

Really? You think MOST people have sky?

What does 50hz even mean?
