The LG 42LE4500 brings the advantages of LED back lighting to a whole new class.

At the heart of the LG 42LE4500 is a stunning LED screen. Backlit LED TVs produce a shaper, more detailed picture with greatly enhanced contrast. Take a look at the plasma-equalling contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 and you'll see what we mean. The result is images that, when combined with 1080p Full HD definition, are richly detailed and incredibly life-like. This edge LED lit TV from LG doesn't stop there, either. With a response time of just 3 m/s the 42LE4500 is one of the fastest to respond in its class. This makes it more responsive when gaming and also helps reduce motion blur - especially with fast moving sport and films.

As usual, we would always recommend using a separate home cinema system with a TV of this size but if you do use the LG's built-in sound system you might be pleasantly surprised. Using an invisible speaker system with Clear Voice II and LG's Infinite Sound, the 42LE4500 sounds crisp and precise. Furthermore, the 10w + 10w power output gives it enough drive to fill larger rooms, too.

In terms of connections, the 42LE4500 has everything you'd expect from a quality 42 inch LED TV. Four HDMI sockets allow for the connection of 4 High Definition sources, such as an HD-TV box, PS3, HD camcorder and Blu-ray. In addition to all this, the 42LE4500 boasts a USB connection. This lets you watch digital media from your camera or phone and is even compatible with HD DivX.

As well as its life-like picture, the 42LE4500's LED technology allows for a super-slim casing. At just 35.3mm it's over a half the thickness of conventional LCD TVs, making it even more attractive whether switched on or off. Added to this, the slim frame and gloss black finish give the LG an air of sophistication that the brand has become renowned for.

For a picture that's bigger, brighter and simply better than the rest at this price, take a look at the impressive LG 42LE4500.

Ur link goes to the £399 deal which i saw at Pc World when i posted this deal.

This is £10 cheaper plus you get the chance of a cracking warranty at a far cheaper price than Pc World or Dixons.

Plus you have just edited the title to add the Dixons price!!

I can't see why they're so cheap.

"Some may be ex-display or ex-repair, please phone to check if you are making a special journey."

Looks like you will get a 2nd hand set, explains the price...lol

I've got the 37" version and its pretty damn good. Sound isn't cracking, but that's just due to speaker size. I think the prices are coming down due to the LE4500 range being discontinued.

good find op red hot deal

Wait for the inevitable "know it all" sad-cases posting the usual garbage about this not being a "real" led tv

Gutted, i paid 400 for the 32" back in November

Got this for £449 about a month ago. Gutted!

It's a great set, colours are fantastic on it and the USB port in the side really comes in handy.

I've turned the active backlight dimming right down as it was doing my head in getting brighter and dimmer all the time.

edit: looks like 50-60 hz

Is it possible to get LED tv's with 200hz or higher?

Has anyone wall mounted this TV and how close to the wall can you get it? I want the TV as flush to the wall as possible but know that all the ports are on the back (as oppose to the side on Samsungs)
#20
There's 1 HD on the side plus USB and 3.5mm Jack input comes with RCA converter cable. Got it up and its like a painting on the wall

Backlit LED TVs produce a shaper, more detailed picture with greatly enhanced contrast. Take a look at the plasma-equalling contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 and you'll see what we mean

What a load of Tosh!

The contrast ratio is decided by the LCD panel in front of the edge -lit LED backlight. In the case of LG this is almost certainly an S-IPS panel with a (non dynamic) contrast ratio of about 1000:1

This TV also does not have an HD Freeview capability. OK if your usage does not include Freeview.

i couldnt add the tv in to basket someone could help? there is no icon on the website

That is also untrue, it is a combination of the both with regards to LCD TV's, including the LED Backlit LCD TV's.

he is just gonna fit a 3meter screen for me and hook up a new hd projector and 3dxl convertor well have a good idea how much everything will cost tommorow and if its not too much then we will get my lad the tv for xmas but if its slightly over budget the tv will have to wait until later this year..

1 There is no such thing as an LED TV (There is an OLED TV and they have just reached I think about 26" in development and costs thousands)

2 "LED" TV's have 2 sorts of backlights - the more sophisticated and expensive full backlight can be controlled to give zonal dimming that can give an "impression" of increased contrast ratio.

However edge lit LED backlights are actually disadvantaged over conventional CCFL backlights in terms of illumination consistency/uniformity. Whatever the contrast ratio and sharpness is decided by the LCD in front of the backlight.

I am talking about static not dynamic contrast ratios. IMHO the latter are meaningless.
